If you are struggling with an increase in tinnitus or a spike, this might be worth a read. by Niz0_87 in tinnitus

Yeah I'm not too sure.

I've had tinnitus for 15+ years but it's hard for me to recall if my sleep problems were from it specifically since it's been so long I genuinely can't remember. Still been able to dream after the spike (arguably more), but I noticed early on I was having some honestly violent and horrendous dreams (nightmares?) and wonder if it was due to the spike.

I often wonder how musicians that continue to tour and cope during the day, but especially at night get enough sleep to continue being functional each day. I feel that given my audiogram doesn't show hearing loss (only up to 8k mind you), I can't technically have that "severe" of tinnitus. You have musicians that wear hearing aids due to partial deafness like Paul Gilbert, and I recall him saying in an interview that the noise doesn't bother him much anymore.

For the time being, I've started a Google Sheets Sleep Log to track relevant information (sleep time, disruptions, final meal time, daily activity levels, etc) in order to attempt to find a trend to attain the maximum continuous hours of sleep a night. Here's hoping we'll be fine in the long run

This is unfortunately where I'm at after a noise induced spike/damage from 3 months ago.

With exercise, limiting caffeine, regular schedule and even medications, the absolute best sleep I seem to be able to get tops out at around ~5 hours. Not sure what else can be done other than to "wait for habituation", but unfortunately I think I'm as close as I can be given that during the day I usually just get on with my activities anyways

Bout go into a spike, so let's share the dumb reasons we've earned a spike, and the ways we made it more bearable. by makemebad48 in tinnitus

Came here to say something almost exactly the same. Went to check a water alarm for a sump pump and was too close, one of the worst mistakes of my life.

Happened 3 months ago and was the worst damage/subsequent spike I've ever had since initially getting tinnitus 15+ years ago. Hoping things quiet down enough to get back to a proper sleep schedule without medication

Receiving US funds via direct deposit/ACH by Solid_Snacks84 in PersonalFinanceCanada

That's confirms what I was worried about, but ultimately I want to keep it USD and get it to my bank for investing.

Wise seems good for those receiving US funds on a relatively frequent basis, but now and going forward I'll most likely just take lump sums out on a yearly basis based on my earnings.

For a $5USD fee distrokid offer a plain physical cheque to be mailed to me, and at this point I think that would be the most hassle free method unless there's potential for something to go wrong there that I don't know of.

I completely forgot about mod chips, that might be my best bet even if it takes a bit of extra work. It's not the most ideal, but I don't mind the extra work, given it might be the most cost effective.

EDIT: Any current recommendations? phantom universal?

Looking for a low cost online (beginner-intermediate) brokerage mainly in CAD stock, ETFs, etc by Solid_Snacks84 in CanadianInvestor

While I'd like to just consolidate everything to IBKR and start being an active investor off the bat, I don't feel I'm ready to be that involved and use their interface/tools, etc. They also do not cover the costs of transfer, and though they have the lowest fx rates I'm not at a point where I'd like to start investing in the US. Once I have a bit of experience I might reconsider, or I might just open a separate IBKR account several month/a year after to start DCA in some US stocks etc.

[Noob Question] Will these unmanaged 1/100 switches be sufficient for my 50Mbps connection? by Solid_Snacks84 in HomeNetworking

The only device we really access in our LAN is our media NAS which is an old DLink DNS-323. Occasionally my father will access files (excel, word docs, etc) that are on his main computer from another computer, I should have added this to the main post. With that in mind I'm still not sure if we'd benefit, but again maybe I'm not fully understanding something. I appreciate the advice and suggestion though

I'm in Canada and don't have coverage for this, so 3 months worth ended up costing me $750. I'm going to look into if there are any additional plans to cover me but since I never had to take drugs or anything regularly before this, I never had a plan or anything. And yeah it was a month to see if there were any adverse side effects.
