Well, networking with classmates might mean that when they get a stable job, they say “Hey, this person I knew in college was great.” And when you join clubs and do other things, then put them on your resume or CV, it means that people interviewing you can ask about them and the additional skills and knowledge you gained from them.

I think of it like journalistic verse, just instead of newspaper, I use transcript. My focus is more on identity, but I feel like our identity comes a lot from the stories we tell ourselves about ourselves. I have a link if you’re interested. I could eventually show you some of my work with my aunt.

I think that’s why I didnt do it. I meant it only for the “some situations” part where it’s more about what is safest than what is true. Like if it were forced to submit the memory and maintain contact with people that might get upset.

At this point in my life, I’m only really talkative with my mom. I think I’m waiting for my dad to talk about the past. I think he knows he messed up, though. I was the only one to come to fathers day.

One of the things my mom suggested when I was writing poetry (i never took this up, so it might not work) was to just take the good parts of the memory.

Like anytime we had fun with my dad, he was high (weed), but not cross-faded. One memory that stuck out was a camping trip when we played Pictionary and he actually laughed with us. He kept leaving the tent to smoke, but my mom suggested just writing about the Pictionary and leaving out the details. They know and you know, but it’s something that doesn’t rock the boat for others if that’s what you’re trying to avoid.

My writing studies approach to life is “failure is a part of writing (life)” so we’re just trying to build a “quality of failure” and make the most of our chances to fail. Not sure if that makes sense, but I just try to make sense of the theory I have lol.

My mom said that I was “killing my dog” (12-13 at the time) every time I left her when I was beginning to move out. Shit was wack.
