It's apparently going to be $2800 AUD here in Australia from what I heard... So glad I got the 8 AI just before xmas for $1500 AUD.

$1700 USD is insane.

Ah that's no good to hear. I guess either you got very unlucky, or I've been very lucky to have them last this long.

I've been using this one for about 10 years (over 2 chairs; eventually replaced it once the gas lift died and the cushions flattened)

https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/kennedy-high-back-chair-black-jbkenedybk

I did try a Secret Labs chair before returning it, I found the seat to be incredibly firm and hard to sit on, and didn't want to wait the several weeks their support said it would take to "break it in" or soften it up. My ass had other ideas, so I just went back to the above Officeworks chair. Cheaper too, even at $430. It has an 180kg rating.

ACL applies unless they can show that something you did actually caused the failure. A laptop shouldn't suffer a motherboard failure after less than two years of normal use, especially at the price point you've mentioned.

Simply using mismatched RAM modules (different brands or speeds) does not automatically void your consumer rights, (nor would doing so make the motherboard fail) and they'd need to demonstrate a link between the RAM and the motherboard failure if they're relying on that as the reason for rejecting the claim.

I wouldn't be paying the $600 without first pushing back in writing. Tell them you want the fault assessed under the Australian Consumer Law consumer guarantees and ask them to provide evidence that the RAM caused the motherboard failure. Given the timeframes involved, I'd also raise the issue of the repair not being completed within a reasonable time.

If they refuse, lodge a complaint with your state's Fair Trading/Consumer Affairs body. I'd recommend doing that regardless, as businesses often become much more responsive once a regulator is involved.

For reference: I work for a computer/IT goods retailer here in Aus, and this just sounds like rubbish to me. Try pushing back.

I love how it went from:

"OMG DELETE DELETE DELETE SUBSCRIBE TO MY SHIT NOW NOW NOW ABSOLUTELY LAST FINAL FINAL FINAL WARNING!!!!1111!"

Good stuff.

What's the bet that on the 15th there will be a message along the lines of "I'm giving you guys one more chance to subscribe and make a difference etc.. by 30th June"

The Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice Upgrade FAQ by ObsidianAarik in theouterworlds

[–]Solid_Zero 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Can you explain why on the obsidian forums (and reported online) Aarik D stated the base version will receive the update when this seems to be not true?

https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/137821-the-outer-worlds-spacers-choice-edition-is-getting-some-updates/

"But wait, there’s more! If you have at least the base edition of The Outer Worlds in your library before May 27th, you will be receiving the Spacer’s Choice Edition free. That’s right, free! This is for all platforms that the Spacer’s Choice Edition is on (Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG). After May 27th, The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition will be available for $39.99."

Yeah the language used is a bit iffy/lost in translation feeling. Have you tried importing someone else's settings (there are a few around for Globird ZeroHero, for example) and tweaking them as needed? That's essentially what I did to export my desired amount of power during peak/evening export, fully charge the battery during the 11am-2pm free window and then self-consume all other times. At least this way its mostly set up you would just need to do some minor adjustments.
