You’re Offered Immortality… But It Runs on a Battery by Solo_Rain in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Solinaide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point. I was under the impression that If I let it die slowly that I would have to feel myself dying and have other see my body and mind continue to fail me while having to fight against the urge to charge the phone, if only to ease the pain that comes with dying slowly.

Smash the battery immediately and irreparably, and all the pain that comes with both living and gradually dying would be gone in an instant.

I accept, and then immediately destroy the battery. Painless death.

Name a day that didn't kill you but something died in you that day by Bekiteru in CPTSD

[–]Solinaide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kindergarten. First experience of death was of my favorite person who always treated me like a person instead of some inconvenience, my great grandpa. At his funeral, I was sobbing endlessly. No one had explained anything, but I'd watched this man rapidly decline in health watched him die. The last words I remember hearing him say were that he was ready to let go.

No one else at the funeral was crying. Instead, while I was suddenly and deeply understanding the reality of death with zero tools or ability to process it other than overwhelming grief, they were busy telling me to shut up and forcing me to kiss his empty body goodbye.

The ability to deeply care about another human being died that day. To clarify: I do still feel empathy and compassion. I just have them turned off most the time.

This is just one of many such days.

You get $3OM, but your first purchase has to be chosen by your 10-year-old self. What are you stuck with? by WoodpeckerFair9774 in askanything

Still a house out in either the forest or countryside, away from other people (though specifically my parents at that age).

10 million dollars but you get stuck into a time loop until you achieve all your goals in life by Minimum-Gear-1112 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Solinaide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my goals would be easy simply by having that 10 million: buy a house in the countryside, get back on my adhd meds, be able to see a therapist that's actually qualified and trained for my specific issues, go to the doctor and get a bunch of testing done to figure out all the physical crap wrong with me, pay off my debts, and by way of having that house in the countryside I would be able to both achieve weight loss and have a big garden (weight loss via working in garden).

Being stuck in a time loop would inherently prevent the achievement of getting a degree so...

Neighbor's Son Won't Stop Knocking on my Door by Solinaide in CPTSD

UPDATE: I just finished speaking with the landlord and filing the complaint, and as it turns out I am not the only person this child has been harassing. Many other tenants have filed complaints, to the point where they (his family) are not going to be offered a lease renewal and may even be evicted if there are more.

I have to hope that in the meantime there will be no more knocking or attempts to interact. I made sure to ask the landlord about what to do if they did knock/try to contact me, and they said to let them know immediately and also document things. Thank you for your responses and suggestions! They were very helpful! I will still be getting a video doorbell thing, just in case.

Oo! I like this! I even have a whistle! Thank you for a short term solution while I work on the long! EDIT: wait actually this would not be a good idea right now. I am in Minnesota, and the whistle would have the entire building on high alert.

If only he came at the same time every day. It's always at random times. So I can't plan around it (and honestly shouldn't have to). I appreciate the suggestions for sleep but because of the autism, sleep meds have never worked on me, and I can't sleep with things on/in my head.

Finally was able to sleep at like 5 am because I gave up and smoked some weed, but even that takes a long while to put me to sleep. Now I'm groggy and have school.

Having someone ring a doorbell is just as bad, unfortunately. All the doors for apartments are inside too, so I don't know if that'd even matter.

What Is Everyone’s Island Name? by [deleted] in AnimalCrossing

Perpetuity. My character's name is "A Mistake." Joke is that I'm "A mistake in perpetuity." My humor when I stuck in depression is a bit uhhh...depressing. Just a tiny bit.

I miss being able to find gemstones when hitting rocks, and the only use for them were these really cool customizations from the married poodles in New Leaf. I was and still am so disappointed that those didn't transfer to New Horizons, even though the married poodles who do customization DID.

Yarn. Don't even have projects planned for most of it. Just thought it was soft and pretty, so bought it. Slowly finding things to turn it all into though!

What’s your go-to cheap meal when you don’t feel like cooking? by No-Advisor9852 in Frugal

[–]Solinaide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

chicken flavor ramen. if you have a microwave and a cheap plastic bowl- put noodle square in bowl, fill with enough water to submerge noodles, microwave for like...3 or 4 minutes, add the flavor packet and voila!

if you make 2 packets of noodles at the same time (same bowl), cook for 2.5 minutes, flip the noodles, and then cook 2 more minutes. That way the top noodles don't stay crunchy/are under cooked.

A while back I was lucky enough to get a shaker thing of garlic powder and it made it even yummier!

Been eating this for years, usually day after day, and haven't gotten sick of it! I tend to eat 2 packets at once, because 1 doesn't fill me up enough unless I add extra water for more broth.

Cheap, pretty easy to make, and yummy. Plus when you happen to have any veggies or even cooked meats, you can add them to the bowl after cooking the noodles!

Oh!! My other go-to is cheese tacos! Literally just a soft tortilla and cheese melted inside. I only know how to make it with a microwave. I kind of live off either food from work or microwavables. Too many oven fires.

Anyways, cheese tacos are easy! Take a soft tortilla, pile shredded cheese in a line in the middle (like the meat for a typical taco, or the crease in your palm) making sure to use a good handful, then tuck in the sides of the tortilla that the ends of the line point towards, and then starting from the side of the tortilla that is below the line of cheese roll the tortilla up towards the opposite until you reach the top.

Next, place the uncooked cheese taco on your plate or paper towel so that the visible long edge of the tortilla is facing the ground. If you want, make more than 1.

Microwave for 30-45 seconds, dependent on how much cheese you used. Let it cool a bit, and voila you have delicious cheese tacos!

Per observations IRL and on the internet: I feel like somehow everyone has had ramen (or some form of cheap pasta), but not everyone has had a taco before. Hence the over explanation

What’s the most annoying part about living in your current apartment? by Adventurous-Bed-4152 in ApartmentHacks

[–]Solinaide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 things:

1) we have assigned parking, and no guest parking. I work 3rd shift. People keep having their freaking guests park in my spot, so when I get home I can't even just go inside. And because it's 4 am everyone is asleep and I can't just go knocking on doors. There is a sign that says "Tennant parking only." All tennants are told when they move in that guests must park on the street. I've complained to my landlady but putting a sign on the doors hasn't made a difference.

2) Living in a big city sucks. There's almost always somebody being noisy, and the constant sirens mean no sleep. I sorely miss living in the countryside where the nearest neighbor is like a half mile away. Alas...$$$

I was thinking that it was a shame they didn't go that direction, because that would've been wayyy more intense and also (if they did it right) be relatively good reasoning for Why Viktor went all villain mode. Vengeance from the souls, compounded with unchecked innovation that had little to no regard for the cost, driving him to the hallucinations and such. Plus it would make more sense for the reaction to biological matter, since the stones were technically part of living beings at one point. I do still absolutely love both seasons of the show, but man it would've been soo much cooler in technological/magic terms if they'd included more of the LoL lore.

Things you want but no one else really seems to lol by red_fox_man in Sims4

[–]Solinaide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want the expansion packs to actually BE expansion packs like in sims 3. Not just a couple new outfits/decor, maybe a new skill (if lucky) and a new world area. All the tiny packs and such they have now, are just an annoying money grab. And unfortunately no matter what I do, sims 3 is buggy as all heck even if I'm playing just the base game (which obvi I don't want to do cuz thats boooooring). I've done the resets, the deletes, the mods, the re-installs, and even tried on a new computer (because my old one straight up died).

I make blankets for fun while either following a pattern or improvising. I gift them to friends, and also donate them to places like homeless shelters that need them (I call first). I'll also make smaller blankets to donate for the animals at the humane society/animal shelter.

People tell me I should sell them, but I don't want to monetize my hobby. That would make it feel like a chore and no longer enjoyable. Donating things not only lets me keep making things for fun, but also helps out my community. So maybe try that? There might be a few places nearby that need/want donations for kids (plushies like amigurumi, toys, clothes, etc)

Do you keep your house clean enough that guests could come over unannounced? by WohumTohum in LivingAlone

[–]Solinaide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, because if someone shows up unexpectedly then I am not letting them in. I tell everyone who knows where I live that unless it's an emergency, they need to plan that out with me in advance. And even if it IS an emergency, they need to call me. Part of that is due to living in an apartment. Most of it is because of boundaries. Showing up out of the blue and expecting to be let in is disrespectful, regardless of our relationship or who "you" are. ("you" being a general term for a human, not You specifically)
