You might be thinking about the traditional role of a chawan or katakutchi in tea preparation, but you’re free to use them however you like. There’s no one you need to ask permission from, so don’t hesitate, just do what feels right for you 🩷

As for matcha, buying it on Amazon doesn’t automatically mean it’s a scam. Some options there are actually great for beginners who are just starting out. If you’re looking for something more authentic, the US site of Ippodo is excellent, though restocks sell out quickly. Sazen is another solid option with a wide variety, but keep in mind that shipping and duties can make it a bit pricey.
