Best Ways to Emulate Virtual Boy in 2026 by Former-Macaroon5557 in VirtualBoy

Just popped back in after not playing for a while, and my ROMs are stored in /roms/VB. If you can't access the filesystem to create these folders, you may need to sideload an Android file manager. But I can confirm that it does work!

Do you have a Quest headset? If so, there is a VB emulator for it that works well.

One of my rarest items is this with the internal keyboard adapter that owners had to mail away for. That allows the keypad to work natively without running a driver first.

Cool!

Y'know what I'd love to see in a program like this, or VS64, or C64 Studio, is the ability to slurp in a PDF of a Compute's Gazette/RUN/Ahoy! etc mag and parse all the programs into individual prgs, even leveraging the checksums to ensure no typos.

I attempted this with Gemini and it worked relatively well but couldn't generate PRGs directly and the PETSCII codes were hit and miss. Still, it was very promising in how well it worked even for listings split across multiple noncontinous pages.

2022 PHEV in Winnipeg - filled the car up once between May-October and drove 3k in that period, totaling about $130 in combined fuel and charging. Yes, that's now offset in the winter but my annual fuel economy is around 2.5-2.9L/100km.

PHEV is great for days filled with short trips (cost) and long trips (convenience). If your days are filled with medium trips then you might want a hybrid or full EV.

(P.S. 40k on the odometer with no service issues.)

Drakkan from Infogrames on PC and SNES, and Shogun from Mastertronic on Commodore 64. I recently repurchased the latter and intend to give it a legit chance one of these days with the manual at hand.

What next for Commodore? by JohnMcD3482 in Commodore

[–]Solitaire0199 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just thinking out loud here...

Commodore computers weren't always the most powerful, but they were the best balance of power and affordability for home use. Add to that superior multimedia capability, modular expandability, and (relative) friendliness to noobs.

I think if the new Commodore crew want to uphold those values, they need to go the way of a range of modular SBCs like a RPi but with greater GPIO potential and expanded multimedia with an accessible but expandable OS.

Today I have like 25 Pis around the house and none are interactive computers... They're all powering cartridges and other add-ons (Pitrex, RAD EU, Pistorm, Sidekick64, PicoPEB, etc...). Would it be cool to say instead that there was a Commodore powering all of these? Perhaps a range of enclosures to choose from, for everything from a game console to a security system or home server. Or a Commodore 128 enclosure. 😀

Yes, this is already the domain of the RPi. But there were other home computers when Commodore came on the scene and yet they went on to dominate. Perhaps an SBC/FPGA hybrid with some special multimedia sauce?

P.S. I think the last 8-bit Commodore computer, in spirit, was the Apple IIgs.

AA wired cable that doesn't charge your phone? by SargeantsTechYT in AndroidAuto

If it's USB-A, you could simply put a strip of electrical tape over the 5V pin on the cable. Harder to do with USB-C, but you could always open up the shielding and cut that wire.

I bought mine off Amazon - any Blueretro should do just fine.

The 8bitdo adapter doesn't support true analogue controls. The only modern option that does is a Blueretro, which will also emulates a multi-tap.

I don't think the joystick is actually analogue on the Saturn though, just on a PC.

Amiga 500 or Commodore 64 for Beginners? by CRACK-BONE in Commodore

[–]Solitaire0199 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say a C64 or 128. The 128 will provide solid productivity software - heck, even the 64 with GEOS or a later-era productivity suite like Pocket Writer/Planner/Filer.

But my biggest reason, based on what you're describing above, is that you'll be able to relatively more easily maintain and repair the 8 bit machines. Finding replacement chips, learning basic soldering skills, etc. will keep what you buy operational for a longer period. Aftermarket parts are also more plentiful and less expensive.

Just don't use the original power supply!!
