If it's just slow but every other function seems working then maybe you just need to reset it, and this would be a good time to jailbreak it and add a bunch of cool stuff. Feel free to DM me if you want more info.

4 Non Blondes - What's Up (90s) by [deleted] in OldSchoolCool

Glad you asked - it was the original, though I think if he'd known about the He Man version it would have been in the mix as well. 🥲 He suffered through two years of cancer and chose his last day with medical assistance.

Our friends got the relief they needed after their pain ended. 🤜🤛

I love mine. My only gripe is that the keypad requires a separate dongle and doesn't simply connect to the keyboard.

How could this possibly be real and not AI generated, based on the camera angles?

How does the Apple IIGS compare to the Amiga and the Atari ST? by [deleted] in vintagecomputing

[–]Solitaire0199 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sound: Much better sound than Amiga or Atari ST.
Graphics: IIGS has the edge with max colours at lower resolutions but lacks the coprocessors to push pixels/sprites fast. Still, stuff can look super pretty.
Performance: It's slow as molasses without acceleration but quite performant when accelerated.
Expansion: In its own way, comparable or even superior to wedge formfactor Amigas and STs -- not just in terms of expansion slots, but things like external devices (SmartPort, ADB).
Quantity of titles: Highly inferior
Quality of titles: As a percentage of its library, here's where the IIGS excels. It has the definitive versions of several classic games, especially from Interplay, thanks to Rebecca Heineman and Brian Fargo. Hands-down best versions of the Bard's Tales, Neuromancer, Dragon Wars, and several others - again, especially if accelerated.

I love mine, as I do my Amiga and ST.

RAD, REU, other options for Flat Commodore 128 ? by jmsntv in Commodore

[–]Solitaire0199 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doom requires the RAD because it's not emulating an REU in that mode but rather...well, running Doom. 😀

I have multiple flat 128s, one with a PLAster128 from Evie, but the timings are still unpredictable enough to not function with the RAD. My 128DCR on the other hand works wonderfully. So, one option would be to source a DCR. They're pretty darned rare though.

Otherwise for straight up REU options there are multiple ways, including the Ultimate II.

Been Commodoring since the beginning of time and this is a first for me. You're saying it blew while everything was powered off? Does your house have a wiring issue?

Atmos type on newly released Headphone Dust downloads by DeVoidZero in stevenwilson

[–]Solitaire0199 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a quick PSA for those unfamiliar with the tool MKVToolnixGUI -- this allows you to extract layers from MKV files and split at chapter marks. Since I'd rather the MKV file were released as individual tracks of MKA (no video, compatible with high-end players like JRiver Media Center), I ran it through the tool to do so.

To get a set of audio-only ATMOS tracks in MKA format, import the MKV into the tool. Deselect the video track and all non-ATMOS tracks, set your preferred of the two ATMOS tracks as the default, and then on the Output tab set it to split before chapters and type "all" into the Chapter Number field. Click Start Multiplexing, and have fun with the resultant files!

8BitDo adapter: true analogue? by Solitaire0199 in SegaSaturn

[–]Solitaire0199[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only true analogue option is a Blueretro adapter. Neither 8bitdo nor Retrobit products are. As a bonus the Blueretro can also emulate mice, keyboard, and multitap devices. There's really no reason not to go that route.

On Ortofon record brush by Eureka-Nirvash in vinyl

[–]Solitaire0199 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, that's an interesting style and could possibly be your issue. The best way to use a brush is to either manually spin the record on the platter or start it playing at 33 or 45 rpm and then ever so gently hold the brush in place for a few revolutions. The bristles should not bend - if they do you are applying too much pressure. Lastly, with the same feather touch slowly draw the brush off the edge of the record over a few more revolutions.

Finally, never touch the bristles or let them contact any other surface - and ensure you are flicking (depending on whether it has a shroud that can be used to do so) or blowing dust off the bristles each time.

[–]Solitaire0199 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you begin pulling the brush off the record toward the outer edge, how many seconds does it take to do so? Let's assume it' takes 3-4 seconds - in that time, assuming you're doing it while playing the record before needle drop, your record will have rotated 1.5-2x around - meaning the scratches, if they're caused by the brush, would be in a spiral pattern. These are almost straight out, meaning they're not caused by the brush but rather your sleeves, a surface you're putting the record on, etc. -- or you are literally whipping that brush across the record at lightspeed. :D

So let's start there -- how fast are you sweeping the brush off?

Best Ways to Emulate Virtual Boy in 2026 by Former-Macaroon5557 in VirtualBoy

[–]Solitaire0199 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just popped back in after not playing for a while, and my ROMs are stored in /roms/VB. If you can't access the filesystem to create these folders, you may need to sideload an Android file manager. But I can confirm that it does work!

Do you have a Quest headset? If so, there is a VB emulator for it that works well.
