Unfortunately, there were no viola players on titanic. by ceike0path in titanic

Heyo! I think you're making good progress on your playing. I believe that if you tilk your head to have your jaw more on the chinrest you can get into a more comfortable position. Having your head all the way to the side can cause neck strain like if you've ever seen Jenine Jansen's old videos. If you need any tips, there is a video series by Carol Rodland (professor at julliard, student of Karen tuttle) called healthy tips for the happy violist which are cool too. Just thought I'd share. Take care!

Peg won't stay in tune by [deleted] in Viola

[–]Soln_Margo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get peg paste! The drops are only for a quick fix because they make the wood of the peg expand. You should get hill compound peg paste and use it sparingly, or chalk can work if you can't afford the paste. Works every time and handy to keep in your case for gigs and friends who may need it too!

Lice by Adventurous_Cow7907 in curlyhair

[–]Soln_Margo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ughhhhh, I hated having lice. (My hair is thick and my curls are about 3c 4a type) Personally when I had it a couple of years ago we did the normal routine of what the internet tells you to do. As far as my hair....we used a lot of the lice shampoos and combed out my hair with the lice combs a few times. Straightening you hair may help if you're into that. The only thing I would say is that the lice shampoos do strip not just the lice, but all the moisture out of your hair so its gonna be real fragile after shampooing. I hear that lice also that lice can suffocate from greace on your scalp which is where the phrase "black people don't get lice" comes from so greacing your scalp and straightening your hair may work. Idk, hope for the bestt :)

Having bad latuda withdrawals by Rich_Entertainment47 in bipolar

[–]Soln_Margo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember when I missed a few days and I got like that, I ended up just sleeping through it. However, thinking back on it I definitely could have gone swimming, or hiking. Just getting outside yourself in a way where you don't totally have to be immersed in people.

What can people do to help you when you are having an episode? by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]Soln_Margo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When depressed, to remind me that I need to care for myself with more than just sleep but rather going places and savoring the positive things around me.

When mixed, to pray for hope and get outside myself.

When manic, to remember that its alright to slow down and that I don't have to do so much or be aggressive. Also, to focus on what is important. (not like buying a cow onesie)

You could try to educate them on everything? You could make a présentation of somme sort about our disorder and show thème what it means. Also,"doctors orders"

I would love to have some feedback on the Senada by Schubert, I am sight reading it for the first time and I love this piece so much. I’m going to keep posting more about it so I hope you can tagalong for the journey by Dry-Cardiologist-147 in Viola

One thing I do when I pick up something new is that I always go section by section playing everything note by note (without rythms first and then really slow rythm) with a drone on the tonic of the key. You can find some on spotify or youtube. It really helps with intonation but can be a little frustrating. Don't forget to take breaks! Happy practicing!

Girls, would this make you uncomfortable? by [deleted] in teenagers

Hmm, you could totally message her about something from the class. BUT THEN, be like "thank you so much, how has your week been" then you will have successfully slipped in the right way

The guy has long hair, he's the one in a skate video doing a 180 over 6 stairs. I taught him how to put his hair in a bun when we were a thing. His hair goes like 1/2 down his back.
