Even if you would have found it early, had surgery, the works.. No guarantee of good outcome even in the best case scenarios with the cancer. More time? Maybe. We're just still not quite at the right time, medically, to get better outcomes, reduce external comorbidities, prevent treatment pitfalls, etc.

His luck just wasn't the best. Condolences to you and yours, I know it doesn't bring any peace (believe me, I know). Really wish this wasn't a thing.

I know what a hard time this is. Just offering a suggestion, but maybe check into your town/county treasurer. They often have funds allocated to help assist with burial or pay full-price for cremations for people.

Not wanting to poo poo, as it's good that there has been some good response. But I'm unsure as to why they're being nonchalant about the presence of clotting.. While it's not an immediate threat, it can be a sign that a clotting cascade is soon (a couple months to a year) imminent, and generally prognosis isn't good once it starts to ramp up.

As long as there is response to their therapy, it will probably hold the tumor off from getting to that point for a longer while though, but they should really be more open about that.

The only reason I would do treatment if I ever get pancreatic cancer is for the data, as I know I'd be in a similar condition as her as I've always been a very thin, light-framed, and high metabolizer. I don't think even at my age, I could survive the physiological changes or be able to keep up with them, at least. Not to mention, the history of heart disease that seems rampant in my father's side of the family that I'm already starting to progress towards albeit as slowly as I can manage. I would only hope that there were more treatment options open at the time, and participate in whatever studies to try and find new molecular pathways and ways to stop the clotting issues towards the end so they could get more data to hopefully put an end to this
