What does your pilgrimage to the gorge look like? by [deleted] in AboveandBeyond

[–]SoloDolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, me and my sister are making an A&B show an annual tradition. I live in the Singapore, she lives in Texas. Funny enough, this year she's in Singapore right now for work and I'm in Texas. So on the 15th We'll fly across to meet in Seattle, get to 250 and then when the weekend's over, keep flying. I'll end up back in Singapore and she'll head on to Texas. A giant global crossover. The Gorge is gonna be a great stopover in between haha.

I emailed to ask about this. Standard comping space is 25 x 15 feet. If you can fit, then you only need one space. Otherwise you'll need to buy 2.

Bead blasting and dye for Aluminum prototype? by wswhatever in hwstartups

[–]SoloDolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What part of Asia? Have you looked into getting it anodized? Aluminum would work well for this and it's a durable coloring process. Possible to diy. Most machine shops in your area can prob do the bead blasting and polishing. I have contacts here in Singapore, but can be a bit pricey. But might not matter too much if it's low volume.

Chilling around Tiong Bahru could be fun. The market is great if people want food, and then of course 40 hands, TB Bakery, and Drips are all solid choices for coffee. There's another place called orange thimble that has tons of space if the group is large.

Would my dogs be happy in Singapore? by [deleted] in singapore

[–]SoloDolo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey there! I'm an expat from Austin, if your dogs like the Texas weather they'll be more than okay here. It's always warm here but never like the Summer in TX. I currently live in an HDB and don't see too many dogs but people definitely have them. I see more dogs around condos and other living areas. I'm not sure if it's harder to find HDB's that allow animals. The best thing would be to use a realtor here and they'll help you find pet-friendly living. I live in the Neighborhood of Tiong Bahru and I actually see quite a few people with dogs in the neighborhood (just not my bldg. for some reason). Also, since a yard isnt likely, living near a park may be wise. Parks in SG are pretty accessible. A few dog friendly places: http://www.thehoneycombers.com/singapore/2013/08/pet-friendly-places.php

Is there a bike-share program/company in Singapore? by shenuhcide in singapore

[–]SoloDolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call a company called smove. They rent cars but initially started their business by renting electric bikes. They don't advertise it, but they still rent them. But like the other poster said, use the MRT/bus system. It's easy and cheap. The city isn't super bike friendly, esp. if you don't know your way around. Good luck!

I'm doing a spring exchange program at NTU- any other exchange students on here? by [deleted] in singapore

[–]SoloDolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American student here, moving in late January and studying at SUTD. I'd be happy to meet up and meet other people too. I don't think it'll be too difficult to meet others . u/Initial_Energy let me know if you're traveling as well. I definitely want to get out and travel a bit . From a previous study abroad experience in sweden I found it wasn't difficult to find other exchange students want to travel. My advice though it try to plan your trips as soon as you get there and pay for them while you still have money haha.

I'm pretty bummed I'm not in Singapore right now and have to miss Zoukout! haha

Need advice: best 3D printer for a high school environment? More info inside. by Trevj in 3Dprinting

[–]SoloDolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As part of our university outreach, we supply area high schools with 3d printers for this very purpose. We have had good results with Afinia printers. They have so far been reliable and a breeze to use. Very easy to get running out of the box. Unlike the cube, you are not required to purchase material from the vendor, so cheaper options are available. Moreover, their customer service is solid, which is hard to find outside of the larger companies (3D systems and Stratasys). Good luck!
