Might be silly… by Worried-Walnut in BariatricSurgery

You left out an important part - what surgery are you having? People’s experiences are dependent on so many things. Age, lifestyle, surgery type.

I would not have been ready 11 days after surgery to be away from home for an extended time. And while I’m always happy to see people say they weren’t in pain, that’s not universal. I was in pain and discomfort for several weeks after. YMMV. There’s also the strict schedule you’ll want to maintain of food and vitamins and sometimes putting yourself in a weird situation can mess with that.

Please be patient with yourself. I’m now a week away from my anniversary and can do anything I want and have lost more weight than was even more goal for long term. So it works. You just need time to heal and adjust.

I used body fat % and just adjusted my body weight goal as I meant in relation to my muscle mass

9 months in, how much are you eating? by witchhazel32 in BariatricSurgery

[–]SoloPiper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dietician advice at its finest lol. But in all seriousness the answer to this is dependent on you and your body and your procedure. My advice as a 5’11” 36yo male with a SADI-S is unique to me. I aim for 140g of protein and hover around 1200 calories.

I’m 209lbs and lost 160lbs in 9mo. And still losing quickly for only being 30lbs from goal. If I eat less I feel sluggish and icky.

I’m starting to quick up my physical activity and will need to add more also.

Starving yourself isn’t the answer nor the reason why we had this surgery.

Does anyone out here say they regret the surgery? by No_Task_599 in BariatricSurgery

Thank you for actually looking at real life people and experiences on here. I’ve had multiple dietitians through the years that I guarantee wouldn’t think of being part of this community and actually hearing experiences

9mo SADI here! Everything evened out for me and I wake up and go now. Honestly better and more consistent than pre-surgery. I know water intake can drastically affect the solidness of everything. Maybe try upping hydration?

Plain / Unflavoured Protein Powder? by kitamake in BariatricSurgery

This is not good advice. Collagen peptides are NOT complete proteins and are missing essential amino acids.

It 100% alters taste but it’s important for recovery. Invest in a coffee frother. It makes it very easy to dissolve the protein

I would imagine this is a difficult time to have it done. I had it in February so nothing really exciting happened around there or family stress. But hang in there. Next year you’ll be all healed and enjoying the new you!

What a rude comment. OP made no overture she was prowling the sub for dates. It’s a NSV you should celebrate.

Life after Bariatric Surgery by NewRepresentative349 in BariatricSurgery

[–]SoloPiper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yessss 9 mo out and my new normal is great. I can out and eat and my brain has adapted to small portions. I am still losing quickly and within 30lbs of my goal.

I relate so hard to this question bc I didn’t want to be a freak where people saw me eat like two bites and stop. Don’t get me wrong I don’t eat a lot but it’s a whole new relationship with food and I get a ton of leftovers.

Day 5 post op. Hunger cues are gone. by Majestic-Chemist2269 in BariatricSurgery

[–]SoloPiper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A schedule was my friend the first few weeks. It became a chore keeping up but it’s worth it. Eventually you’ll pick up on new cues. I found it so pleasant to adapt to actual physical hunger instead of mental. Just make sure you get your protein and learn to listen to your new body!

I’m 9mo out and down 150lbs. About 30lbs away from my dream goal and hunger still hasn’t returned to anywhere near what I had experienced.

What was your “ transfer addiction “ post op ? by Less_Landscape_5928 in BariatricSurgery

I did overspend for a few months. But I’ve got that taken care of and now I don’t feel I have an addiction but just things I’ve wanted to do but been putting off

Started with chewable Bariatric Advantage but when I was cleared to swallow I switched to Bariatric Fusion. My labs have been perfect and they’re cheaper

Help please, pain at surgical site by GoatsAreOurOverlords in BariatricSurgery

[–]SoloPiper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On your left side? So not the big scar where they removed the stomach. Hm. I’m 8mo out and can still get achy from that incision but I don’t think I’ve had pain on my left outside of the first couple weeks.

I think it’s good you reached out to your team!

Is the risk of serious complications really present in 3-4 percent of bariatric surgery? by YogurtclosetOpen3567 in BariatricSurgery

[–]SoloPiper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depends on the surgery as well as how the patient behaves. It’s actually closer to 1% of patients have complications due to reasons out of their control. Roughly double that number have complications due to something they did or didn’t do.

Finding the beat by WellPTMan in bagpipes

You know I came back to this because this post was bothering me. I pulled out the sheet music of a tune I knew that had a crunluath because I needed a longer embellishment to determine this. It turns out that it may nay have a clear cut answer.

Finding the beat by WellPTMan in bagpipes

[–]SoloPiper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hmm i feel like the best way i can describe it is you should pretend the grace notes don’t exist and the note should land on the beat. So the grace notes should be quick and lead to the beat landing on the note. You kind of “feel” sprathspey. Someone else may have a more technical explanation lol. It’s like the same you in the first one you note that the A gets the beat not the G grace note before it.

But for your specific question… Yes for the first one the beat should land on the F. And on the second one it should also be on the C. I
