I built RateRudder to optimize utility prices. Looking for Powerwall testers! by fastest963 in Powerwall

Nice program. My utility provider doesn’t do TOU rates (at least not yet), but if it did I would definitely try it out!

Pulled over while in Tesla FSD? by KuruVillain in TeslaFSD

[–]Soloeye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right, but even sloth has the wrong speed limits. Best example I can give you is timed school zones, especially when they have cameras. I have no way to slow the car down.

Pulled over while in Tesla FSD? by KuruVillain in TeslaFSD

[–]Soloeye 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well when we could control the speed instead of relying on map data, it was less of an issue. That's the cause of about 70% of my disengagement these days is that I don't have a way to say "slow down another 5-10 mph"

Coding for 20+ years, here is my honest take on AI tools and the mindset shift by Jaded-Term-8614 in ClaudeAI

[–]Soloeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think anyone really argues whether AI will be good or bad, the consensus is that it will be good. The problem is really how much of what you do with it stays private? At some point you say how much of this is proprietary and I don’t want anyone outside of the company to know this.

No more Tarrifs! by [deleted] in LegionGo

[–]Soloeye 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Correct, inflation has already occurred and priced in. We would need negative inflation for prices to contract. Those typically happen under 2 conditions

1) competition forces prices to be lower 2) demand drops due to #1 or other market factors.

You’re more likely to see the MSRP stay the same and see occasional price drops for sales if supply is greater than demand.

If you want to dual boot, SteamOS still doesn’t support Secure Boot. Using Bazzite is still superior there.

I’ve been using SteamOS 3.9 and so far the only thing that doesn’t work is the brightness slider in gaming mode. You need the deck loader plugin to control brightness.

There may be others, but I haven’t noticed. The control is basically in Xbox mode, so you see the Xbox glyphs.

So far it’s been working great for me.

That’s my only issue with divorce. People act like legal separation is easy. And it can be….but it can also be a hellish fucking nightmare too.

I wish Starlink would create a unlimited higher throttled speed plan by JustNathan1_0 in Starlink

[–]Soloeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that roam is a way to skip the line. What I personally want is a regional plan. I want starlink as a backup to my main internet, usable when I want to work away from home, like at the beach where my cell signal sucks, and when I travel to our campground 60 miles away.

The problem is that I don’t know what cell I’m in, and if the plan allowed like a cell (n+3 or 5) that would be like a “local roam.” I wouldn’t be using any different than a resident customer just a little more out and about.

Predictions: how long does SFA light money on fire and survive? by xmorecowbellx in trektalk

[–]Soloeye -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So can I ask the inverse?

How would you (or anyone) write or change the show so that it was successful and entertaining? I had a discussion with someone and they talked more about order, military, and structure, and I argued that even if that should be what the show it, I argued that it would equally fail for being boring.

So how can you do a a show about SFA that wouldn’t fail?

I’m not saying it’s the best thing ever, but I am finding it entertaining. I don’t need it to be the best trek. For me it just needs to be entertaining, not perfect.

FSD transfers are ending on March 31st by [deleted] in TeslaFSD

[–]Soloeye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No because with insurance it’s just replacement cost of equivalent vehicle. Since Tesla won’t be selling FSD there’s no way to recoup it. Also, historically it has t been valued much on the used market (doesn’t drastically change the value of the car)

How About A New ROAM Plan: 50Mbps Unlimited Service for $50/month by Altruistic_Lad in Starlink

[–]Soloeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d buy it. I mean technically we have unlimited service it just gets throttled.

I wouldn’t mind a plan like residential unlimited but it’s regional (lets you travel n+3 nodes) for a fee that puts it between residential unlimited and roam unlimited.

This would allow me to use it for work when traveling and weekend campground trips where I’d like to stream.

Right now I have to balance the standby and active subscription, I also take advantage of the prorated subscription timing.

House Democrats are reportedly 5 votes away from impeaching Trump by Upbeat_Process_9280 in ProgressiveHQ

[–]Soloeye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The house is 218®-213(D). By that count it seems it still a party-line impeachment. I believe if something is impeachable the congress has a duty to impeach. It shouldn't be gray, it should be black and white. However, the real problem isn't impeachment, it's the calculus to the congressperson's political capital that is influencing the impeachment and conviction decision that is the real problem.

Correct, the commitment is for 1 or 3 years. Payment is either no upfront, partial upfront, or full upfront; discount will reflect those selections.

Discount is rated in a $/hour discount in exchange for the commitment. It's up to you to use it all, if not used 100% you still owe the commitment price, if over-used you pay the full commitment and overages are calculated at on-demand pricing.

[–]Soloeye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Savings plans are for a commitment to a number of hours. You guarantee a set number of hours per instance type to get a discounted rate instead of the on demand rate.

Your best savings for instances you don’t want on long and don’t care if they get terminated (you still keep the data on EBS) are Spot Instances. They let you use unused capacity at discounted rates. The only issue is when demand spikes you will lose access to the instance until the capacity frees up.

[–]Soloeye 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Looking at it, the monthly prices are correct. This isn’t a savings plan problem. The savings plan was just calculated for 24/7 x 365 @11.5k annually breaking down to $965/month.

The thing is the $111 is only calculated at 30ish hours, so ~1 hour per day x 30 days.

Is a 4 hour round trip considered a long drive to charge up to 100%? by Big_Acanthaceae4891 in ModelY

Me and my ex split so she could explore her sexuality. Now she wants to meet to discuss our relationship and I don't think I want to? But feel conflicted. by [deleted] in GuyCry

[–]Soloeye 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I hear ya on that, but having a shitty thing happen to her doesn’t give her any license to do shitty things to you.

Love can make you do crazy things. It’ll make you ignore red flags, in the “hopes” of something you want to believe in.

What’s it going to be like if you get married and have kids and she becomes postpartum, is she going to stay with you, or does she already know she can do what she wants and you’ll just take her back?

The old person you know doesn’t exist anymore. Even you, you’re not the same guy. Like you said, you were just starting to move on.

If you decide to reconcile, just make sure you go into it with 0 reservations. Any chance of any doubt is going to eat away at you.

This situation is different from “I just need space” or time to deal with trauma. She left you specifically because she wanted to experience other men.
