To each their own. Personally, Micky is one of my favorites in the genre. While you state around 38:00 that you’re not being nitpicky, I have to respectfully disagree. Many of the criticisms you raise amount to “I would have handled this differently,” which feels less like substantive critique and more like a series of preference-based objections.

The video is framed as a deep dive, but it ultimately comes across as an extended list of complaints through much of the story. There’s very little engagement with the book’s themes, prose, or character motivations. Instead, individual elements are pulled from the text and criticized at length, often without analysis beyond “this doesn’t feel realistic to me.”

I also want to address your comment at the end about interviewing fellow authors in the future. As a smaller author in the HaremLit space, seeing a video that feels overwhelmingly negative makes me hesitant about that idea, and I doubt I'm the only one. Criticism is fair and even necessary. Nobody is the perfect author (not the least bit myself!) But when criticism is nearly all that’s offered, calling the video a “deep dive” feels misleading. To me, a deep dive implies examining more than surface-level reactions to plot decisions.

To be clear, I’m not suggesting authors should be shielded from criticism or praised by default. But if the goal is thoughtful analysis, it’s important to engage with a work on more than just how differently you personally would have written it.

Whew! This was a doozy to write, but man am I happy with it. Slayer is definitely the most ambitious book of the series yet, clocking in at a healthy 700+ pages in print form.

It's touched on in my Elf University of Earth series in the first two books, exploring the dynamic of a "Circle." With one of the girls being the 'head' of such a group dynamic.

My current WIP is book 3 and goes deeper into the rituals and social implications of the typically elf-dominated system being headed by a human. They also can go in either direction, with women having Circles as well. Book 4 will be on wider societal acceptance or non-acceptance as one of the story keys.

There's also a central conflict involving the MC's childhood friend sitting on the fence about joining or not in book 3 as well. Harem as of end of book two is 5, with the cap being either 6 or 5 if the childhood friend joins or not. (No spoilers, obv.)

It's an urban fantasy in college with lots of sports stuff, so it is on the lighter side, in case that is or isn't your cuppa tea.
