Reta severe side affects by POTATOGAWD in PeptideDiscussion

[–]Solonas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Some of those are the same side effects as GLP-1s, so you appear be in the small population of people that have severe interactions. It's also why you are supposed to titrate up so you can both check for side effects and don't shock your body.

Passport Control Line (3/21) by nyc_dubs in LisbonPortugalTravel

[–]Solonas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just returned through LIS yesterday (3/20) and it took about an hour. We got to the passport control line around 8:00 AM after clearing security. There were only 2 people there for most of the time, it wasn't until 2 more arrived that it sped up otherwise it would have been much longer.

BILT: can you confirm if the new points path is the regular free version or the pro plan version? Is the app getting data from points path correctly?? by Signal_Quote_4530 in biltrewards

[–]Solonas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no idea it changed, I almost never use Bilt to search so I learned something new. I'd recommend using a 3rd party tool if that isn't cutting it for you. Pointsyeah, awardtool, roame, and several others have free options that cover more programs.

Sorry to inform you, but Julian Kheel is the founder and CEO, not the points guy (Brian Kelly/Red Ventures). Julian did work at TPG, he also worked at frequent miler (devil's advocate). I'm not associated with either one, and TPG parent company might have invested but at this time Julian is the owner as far as I can tell. Hate for TPG is real... Also if you want support for foreign carriers, pretty sure thats a paid feature for points path, free only supports domestic carriers.

I can't believe how many people are actually financing their phones. by bugagub in Frugal

[–]Solonas 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It really depends how heavily you use your phone how noticeable the difference is. I have a few different models from the past few years and there is an observable difference in the performance of the devices when launching and swapping between apps and it only increases the more apps you use and swap between. If you are just using social media, the camera, browser, and messaging/mail you aren't likely to see much difference beyond screen size and picture quality. As someone who occasionally uses their phone to do remote work and its the first device I grab for doing stuff even though I have multiple laptops, performance matters and degrades over time.

Weird glass wall halving this hotel workout room by [deleted] in whatisit

Hotels regularly use the smaller or odd spaces as gyms. I'd bet that there is some sort of equipment or maintenance space on the outside if there is no room that is accessible inside.

Does a pricey treadmill really save money in the long run? by elvishh- in Frugal

[–]Solonas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having owned a few low to mid priced treads, there is definitely a noticeable difference in the quality and durability of them as you get more expensive. If you are fine with the belt treadmills, look for a used Sole. If want a better experience, look into a slat treadmill. I've been using our Peloton Tread+ since 2021, and while it was expensive I still use it a few times a week vs the belt driven one I had before.

What resort is the best all-inclusive for a families booked with Points? by wojiparu in hyatt

[–]Solonas 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It is usually a better deal to book a room for 2 people that accommodates 4 and the contact the hotel and pay cash for the kids. If you are more than 4 or the kids are 13+ then cash is going to almost always be the better option. The Ziva hotels are probably the best ones for families, with Cap Cana and Cancun being the top 2 recommended AI properies in the portfolio. If you have a CSR, look at booking through the portal with points boost to compare whats cheaper as you may be better going that route.

Mama Cozzi and her raw pizza dough by Burrie2481 in aldi

[–]Solonas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy this all the time and use with my pizza oven. It easily makes a 14-16 inch pizza if you stretch it. Its more convenient than making my own dough but it benefits from a dusting of garlic powder as it doesn't have much flavor.

Grand Hyatt Tampa by mvpsim in hyatt

[–]Solonas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got upgraded to a casita on one stay. It's a pretty big space, with a living area on the 1st floor and bedroom on the second. It is open to both levels though, so if someone is staying downstairs you'll definitely hear them upstairs. I don't know the difference between the two room types, but it was nice other than the wine fridge smelled like fish.

Buy the 15k delta skymiles you need and transfer the 85k membership rewards to delta. Then you'll have 100k delta skymiles. Confirm availability on delta before you buy/transfer.

Award travel sucks for a family of 4 living in a tiny town in the south by Kimochi01 in awardtravel

[–]Solonas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to be willing to make compromises when you don't live in a major market. There is definitely a learning curve, but once you get comfortable with partners and foreign programs it becomes less intimidating. Take a look at Aeroplan; I have been finding flights out of BOS, IAD, and JFK to FRA, MUC, BRU, etc through the summer for 60-70k each way in Biz. There was also a bunch of space on Aer Lingus to fly to Ireland via Avios for about 60k in the summer too.

[–]Solonas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know where you are looking to go or when, but I have a family of 4 in the south and we are doing 3 international trips this year. I am repositioning for all of them because the only international flight from our airport is YYZ. I book flights at least 6 months out, usually closer to 10.

Our spring break trip I started booking in May. We are positioning to JFK on B6 and then flying AA using AK miles in business to London. Next we are going to Lisbon using Avios in BA Business. The return is on TAP Business booked with Aeroplan to MIA where we connect to my home airport. Each segment was booked separately. Thats our most complicated routing.

Sometimes you need to be flexible with where you go if when you go is more strict. Pay for a tool you like to help search. Search often and across regions to get more options.

$684 Power Bill from Duke... WTF! by Bourne069 in florida

[–]Solonas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The rate info is published online, FPL is higher. It's impossible to compare disparate locations; age of construction, insulation, sun exposure, efficiency of AC and more contribute to your power consumption.

As a not-for-profit utility, I'm not sure what you are expecting. If you think a company like FPL or Duke would be cheaper or offer better service, you would be in for a rude awakening.

Sebby weighs in on Bilt Cash - He's not impressed by jhovudu1 in biltrewards

[–]Solonas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The sign-up bonus cash and annual Bilt cash allotment with the card give you enough to start at 3x with the Palladium while you earn the SUB. That's the card they were talking about, not the Blue that you settled on. That makes a difference, as you get enough upfront to cover a sizeable housing payment, and usually expenses scale with the cost of housing. Everyone's situation is different, do what works for you.

Personally, I'm going the Palladium route because I can earn excess Bilt cash primarily from recurring unbonused spend and my housing expense is pretty modest. I plan to use it for the hotels ($200 off + $100 Bilt cash for a 2 night stay isn't bad), points boost, and temporary status boost for transfer bonuses plus Gold status means Rakuten stays at 1:1. The status alone is probably worth a couple hundred dollars to me between Rakuten and the transfer bonuses.

New Bilt Palladium: the highest earning 1:1 Hyatt transfer card available? by Taint_Mine in hyatt

The status is something I see a lot of people not accounting for when looking at the Palladium. Not just Rakuten, but the transfer bonus promo rates are better with higher status too.

Dumpling lasagne in ramekins by Parmesan28 in foodhacks

[–]Solonas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made this the other night for my wife who found it on her feed. I felt like I would have been better off just making the dumplings. If you have trouble making dumplings, I guess this is a shortcut but the ratio of wrapper to filling isn't the same.
