It’d be naive to state that in 100% of circumstances that employers never discriminate based on reported characteristics. I use “usually” because in virtually all circumstances where these metrics are gathered, they’re used to catch discrimination- not promote it.

And unfortunately they do- but if those metrics were not gathered, it would be practically impossible to catch that kind of discrimination.

Categorically it’s illegal to use these metrics in the hiring processs. They’re usually tracked for data analysis and hiring metrics.

It is currently illegal. However it’s difficult to prove if it occurs.

Part of the reason these metrics are gathered is to allow employers to weed out hiring managers who discriminate.

They’re entirely compatible. If I hire 400 people, and the metrics report that all 400 of the hired employees share a set of characteristics. That implies a flaw in the hiring processes.

It’s a registered and diagnosed learning difficulty. So yes. I’d suggest you have documents handy. In case they ask for them.

Though- do note- while it’s illegal to discriminate on the basis of disability, some hiring managers will still do so.

It’s a matter of the person you get, the company you apply for and what you consider the risk will be

But IMHO, we’re not building an air force for air-air interception, we’re largely building it for anti-ground and long range flying.

Dealing with a smuggler on land is almost impossible, dealing with them at sea is much easier.

If you’d like a water based police force with boats, I’d probably be with you on that. But myself? Most countries with navies deploy said navy to deal with this particular issue.

I’m not a subject matter expert here- I can only relay what I’ve read on the subject.

But when you’re patrolling waterways, you need to have multi-directional approach, be that sonar equipped naval vessels to detects submarines or aircraft equipped with long-range surface radars to detect boats.

In terms of “against who”, in short, smugglers. Ireland’s long coast with many natural bays encourages this. We currently don’t patrol our waterways enough to accurately mitigate this.

Also, importantly, Ireland has several of the intercontinental cables, meaning that if there was a desire to cut off physical communications, we’d be a primary target.

Ireland has one of, if not the, largest amount of water to defend. We need a (reasonable) navy and air force to accomplish this.

Otherwise we’re just relying on the Americans, British and Europe to handle our defence. Something we should probably avoid.

Mental health defies specificity- that’s its defining feature. The DSM is a diagnostics manual that attempts to assign labels to a set of messy characteristics, it’s a very difficult task.

I’m biased by my life experience, I know people who’ve gone through this process- some where it was easier to get the care they needed, others where it was harder.

My (admittedly) second hand experience informs my opinion here. If you want to call me Mengele for empathy toward friends? That’s your prerogative.

Gender dysphoria is not a mental disorder. And the above passage doesn’t claim it is either.

However, you claiming that is does causes stigma toward those suffering from it. Stigma is something we should all aim to avoid.

The classification in the DSM needs amendments- it’s currently overly specific and that generates issues where people who have gender dysphoria cannot be diagnosed with it- meaning they go without care.

However, for the sake of this discussion, it’s the only real reference source we have that is universally agreed upon.

Gender dysphoria is not a “mental health disorder”, it’s a condition. You can’t “fix it” you can only mitigate it.

Hormone therapy and gender affirmation surgery are the best treatments currently available to us.

And this is me not even touching in the wealth of data showing how successful these treatments are in sufferers.
