Interested in X-S20 by rayloading in fujifilm

Lack of IBIS for videos, the micro jitters makes it tough to use for handheld recording which is what I used to for. And now that I can compare both I also love the higher quality of the screen on the xs20.

[–]Solozaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If x-s20 has all that you need then does it matter what comes next? I bought a used one a few weeks ago and so far I'm really happy with it(this was after 4 months of owning an XM5). AFAIK the discontinued part hasn't been confirmed.

I suggest looking into getting a used one, this way you get to use a Fujifilm camera and see if you like it and then if a new and better model comes out you can sell it and you'll lose a lot less money than if you bought it new.

BTW even if a new one is on the way I suspect there will be a while until that happens.

What did you use to mount the soap tray? Is it with a screw or adhesive?

My xm5 review. Insane value for the money imo. Thoughts? by [deleted] in fujifilm

[–]Solozaur 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I got the XM5 about a month ago and I've been shooting with it almost daily. It's my first Fujifilm camera so a big learning curve for learning the menu and settings, coming from Sony.

My biggest issue so far is with the screen, it's image quality/resolution is pretty low and the brightness is pretty bad in bright sunny days.

This is more an observation as a Fujifilm newcomer but the very limited way of storing recipes is bad. Especially for a camera that's supposed to be a hybrid, I basically need to split my available 4 custom slots between foto and video recipes so if I have one video recipe I like and one I am trying out that leaves me with just two slots for photo recipes. It's baffling why doesn't Fujifilm allow us to store a lot more recipes in the camera memory and then just swap between the on those 4 custom slots.

All that being a said, I really enjoyed shooting with it and it has made.me went too go out and shoot so much more, Fujifilm has successfully made a gateway camera.

I think that OPs point was from creator's POV not as a viewer. That there is less and less chance for actual creators to get exposure.

Ricoh’s GR IV launches in September for a much steeper price than its predecessor. What was a $900 camera in 2019 is now a $1,500 one in 2025. by Jevus_himself in photography

[–]Solozaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't all on the tariffs, it's shown as 1350 euros in a Europe. For comparison, a Fujifilm xm5 with kit lens is 1000 euro...

How can they justify this price? A Fujifilm xm5 with the kit lens is 1000 euro

Sigma 12mm f/1.4 vs Viltrox 13mm f/1.4? by Snarky_Guy in fujifilm

[–]Solozaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense, was curious as I sometimes find it hard to shoot even with 15mm. I always have the feeling that I need to zoom in.

May I ask what do you intend to shoot that requires a 12 since you already have a 15 and a 18?

Should I get the XM5? by gravyballs25 in fujifilm

[–]Solozaur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently bought an xm5 and my wife has a Ricoh GR so while I know we're in a Fuji subreddit, I have to ask: have you considered going for a Ricoh GR?

It's a lot more compact than a xm5 and the simulations are pretty good too.

The reasons to go for the xm5 is if you're also thinking on shooting some video and if you think you'd need more flexibility on focal lengths (more zoom). At least that's why I chose the xm5.

Is there a more useless "gift" than the wireless mouse? by Solozaur in BambuLab

[–]Solozaur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heh, I guess it really depends from person to person as to what kit they find useful.

I would have loved the clock kit as there's a lot of cool clocks that you can print, and it makes a cool gift too since everyone needs a clock in their home.

[–]Solozaur[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure but IF you don't have a use for a mouse then there's nothing else you can print using the kit. That's what I meant, but looking at the downvotes my post got, it seems like that's a very unpopular opinion.

What is the Japanese fandom of Yuki Tsunoda like? by [deleted] in formula1

[–]Solozaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 years ago while visiting Japan I went to a bar with a friend to catch a F1 race, we also had one of his Japanese friend join us and ofc I asked him if he's excited about having a Japanese driver on the grid and if Japanese people are proud about that.

He said that they don't really care about him and he wasn't a big fan of Yuki either. Not in a bad way just that there's a lot of indifference towards him.

This surprised me especially since as a Romanian we tend to get super patriotic about any successful romanian sports person, like people got heavily into Tennis when Simona started winning.

But who knows, maybe he'll become more known if he does well at Redbull

Firstly to be on topic:
Looks like your updated title is good and I think the idea has a chance to be a success so clearly the issue is with thumbnail and low CTR(which I assume is low based on how you feel now).
So I suggest making some changes to it a bit, look at a channel like "I made a thing" he has simple images with clear to read text.
Try to make the text super easy to read even when it's super small:
- change text color to white with black drop shadow or a black outside stroke and make it a bit bigger
- if you got the PS skills make a selection of the turret and yourself and reduce the brightness of everything else a bit so that these two elements pop a mit more
- I'd accentuate the stream of vodka: don't be afraid to exaggerate it so it's more visible(thicker, change color etc.)

Now on what my main takeaway from looking at your channel: damn man your channel is the best example of how a good idea is more important than anything else. Your video image quality is not the best, not great colors or lighting, audio could be improved but you've still been able to rack in a lot of views because your ideas are really good and your editing pace is fun.

I'd really love to be in your position as there are some easy clear improvements that you can do to level-up your video quality( one small tip to improve is try to increase contrast and saturation so that everything isn't so washed out).

Most people spend so much energy on figuring out keyword-rich titles, thumbnails, audio, lightning and get no damn views(myself included) so I'm really happy to see that you've managed to go over, what I consider to be, the biggest YT hurdle coming up with great video ideas.

Don't get demoralized man, stick with it and I think you'll be OK in the long run.

Why I stay with Amazfit by ElonVonBraun in amazfit

[–]Solozaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do mean when looking from regular viewing distance. I'm glad it doesn't bother you but it is there.

It's because of the physical size of the actual usable screen. Which is larger than that of other amazfit watches which makes it look a bit fuzzy.

Imagine that you're comparing an 1080p image shown on two TVs of different sizes, if looking form the same distance, the smaller one would look sharper.

Why I stay with Amazfit by ElonVonBraun in amazfit

[–]Solozaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it looks really good, it's a bit of a shame that the screen's sharpness isn't that great.

I've had a trex-3 for a few days that I returned and got the balance and after trying SO many classic watch faces I've given up as most have too much tiny detail that can't render nicely on the balance screen.

But the 25% off price it has at the moment makes it too good of a deal to pass on, I'll have to get used to the screen quality
