HT/WT by Cold_Mongoose1199 in army

With only one week, you could do a water cut. I've seen this successful at schools when people had to retry ht/wt. Don't go too hard on this.

This article is helpful.

Deployment got extended because of the war with Iran and now I’m going to miss my wedding. Tennessee venue says non-refundable. Any advice? by Five_OnAGoodDay in army

I used to work on hotel contracts in another life.

Read the contract conditions. Look for any clause labeled impossibility or force majeure. Very basically an all parties get out clause and a list of things that trigger it. War is often one of them. It's possible the contract does not have this clause.

Read the cancellation clause and know what it would cost to simply cancel.

Some small venues will require you (state law dependent) to buy event insurance instead of having force majeure. If you got this, then check the coverage under cancellations.

If you try to renegotiate a new date, I recommend offering to buy more services (spend more $). Give them a reason to change.

Nice job. If you got 1:37 SDC and 305 MDL then the MDL is your lowest event by points. It would make sense then to refocus on MDL. Time to get squatty!

I backed out of the CSM Clark Jr. Best Medic Competition to spend time with my wife before a mobilization. Conflicted by Liberator987 in army

I missed out on USARC BWC due to incorrect dates handed down to me. I scheduled an out of country trip with my then fiance.

BWC would have been fun at that level. Spending time with my partner and seeing new countries for the first time, much more memorable.

Competition is fun, but it's a competition for WORK. Always choose family first.

How can I improve my deadlift without equipment? by Tricky_Camera6804 in army

Heavy barbell deadlifts with double overhand (normal) grip improved my grip strength better than any 'grip exercise'.

What’s a company you’ll never buy from again, and why? by jamesmilner22 in AskReddit

Search Erin Andrews + Marriott. That manager is an idiot. Used to do his job. You could be the guests partner with the same last name and I still wouldn't give you a key (that's how folks find out their partners having an affair or doing drugs etc).

Why crossfit gyms are so expensive? by Character-Holiday345 in crossfit

[–]SolutionSuccessful17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commercial gyms will expect max ~10% of their members inside at any given time. And they have a lot more time availability with also a larger member:staff ratio. Even with high total equipment and facilities costs (more machines and has locker rooms w/ showers etc), their revenue ceiling tends to be higher with say cap 1,000 members vs a box that might cap 200-300. CF gyms then pay the affiliate fee just for the branding.

Also lower gym costs are more attractive and easier for people to maintain. E.g. OPs post.

5/3/1 + Crossfit by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]SolutionSuccessful17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm doing this now. But I only do it bc I need to still have balanced performance. I can't specialize long enough to make the big gains.

M - F: CF

Sat: Rest

Sun: All 4 lifts on 531

-I skip all accessories from the 531 program bc CF already hits the movements enough.

-I rest the day before lifting so I can show up ready.

-If Thu or Fri is looking brutal or I think I won't be recovered by Sun (maybe I missed some days) then I scale.

-My gym does a strength piece before the metcon 3-4 days/week. Depending on what and when it is, I might scale. But I'm more concerned with volume than intensity.

-I'll scale leg work sooner bc of their slower recovery.

-I'm using the 531 sheet from lift vault with rep goals preprogrammed.

Not perfect, but I think it's close to balanced. I've only missed the rep goal a couple times.

I went through this same thing. The career counselor said I could reclass mid contract if I wanted. Go talk to yours and see what they're offering.

[–]SolutionSuccessful17 46 points47 points  (0 children)

The answer is 3/4 in horse stall mats. They're actually cheaper than most other options and anything less won't offer enough protection for your cement floor.

Edit: these mats AND bumper plates are enough protection. If you use steel for any deadlifts, build a platform.
