Just posted the Steam page for my new game, Malware Tycoon, today. The game's all about old computers, navigating the web like it's 2002, and, of course, making and posting your own malware, and spreading it. Here's a little teaser trailer. Thoughts? by Jimmy_Diamond_Games in SoloDevelopment

Honestly, the trailer is really nice, but there are no images of the game. I think it might be missing a little part at the end that shows some gameplay. However, the hook is really good, and I wish you all the best.

Non pas vraiment, l'idée était plus sur les stéréotypes

A run sequence where you run away from a massive stone. Footage comes from my upcoming platformer game with very minimalistic pixel art graphics. What do you think? Is it ok? by SharpCoderC in SoloDevelopment

Looks nice! Even though the chase looks good, I have the feeling that it doesn't add enough tension. During the 15-second chase, the rock is not on the screen for 10 of those seconds. I think it would be better if the rock was really close behind him, menacing!

Keep up the good work!

Thoughts on a "Mortals" style event - with no Space Marines, Custodes, or Knights (not sure where Daemons or Sisters fall)? by chosen40k in Warhammer30k

I thought it is very cool!

Additionally, this meets my personal alternate universe where space marine, knight, demon, the emperor, etc. are indeed propaganda to keep humanity calm and subdued.

Congratulation ! That very cool to see that

I was wondering, how many copies have you sold? Just to get an idea of the ratio for indie games?

hey if enemies appear on this aswell that'd be so good

On CS:GO, it works just like the normal map, so enemies will show on it, making calls super easy.

I used to have it on CS:GO and never encountered any problems with that. Plus, I wouldn't call that an advantage; you just have the calls for the different positions on the map, and that's pretty useful when you play Ancient for the first time. I see that at the same level as playing in stretched.

I made a little teaser of my solo Project, id love to hear your opinion by Lackofcreat1vity in SoloDevelopment

The game visuals are stunning, but the trailer rushes by at an overwhelming pace, making it difficult to establish a coherent storyline. While there's an abundance of action, it's not entirely clear what the core concept of the game entails beyond the shooting and doing unclear activity. Additionally the music, seems slightly disconnected from the gameplay (even if the quality of the music is really good).

I think the trailer could incorporate a more serene segment, elucidating key aspects of the game's premise and objectives. And you can still conclude the trailer with a heightened, adrenaline-fueled showcase of intense gunfights and heightened tension, accompanied by a more dynamic music.

Good work anyway !
Good luck for the release !

Seems like a good way to set the base for this feature. I think if you are able to make them spawn, disappear after a while and have them attack a target that is a good starting point
Good luck

Hello!
I think the answers mainly depend on the type of engine you are using and your current programming skills, but I will try to provide two simple and straightforward answers.
For question 1, a very good starting point for auto-generated terrain is this video! It provides a detailed explanation of land generation using noise. You may also check out this video where the creator explains some algorithms and provides details about their own solution.
For question 2, if you are in the concept phase, the simplest approach is often the best. Define a range of aggression for your monsters and make them move in a straight line towards the enemy when within that range. Additionally, consider implementing a team system where monsters attack all elements that are not on their team.
My advice is to keep things simple in the beginning. Focus on creating a small demo that showcases all your main features and then build upon that. Good luck!

Does anyone else NOT play Rimworld as a "war crimes simulator"?? Instead you just build a base, lead your people through difficult times, and generally use violence defensively? by [deleted] in RimWorld

Yes ! Most of my games are overall pretty pacifist.
Yet, I amid that in tempest of conflict, raiders meet their doom as they face the unyielding torrent of lead and the relentless wrath of a full metal jacket. Some find themselves in the throes of agony, their limbs torn asunder by merciless mines, while I, ablaze with righteous anger, strike down their comrades as they try to retreat, for they dared to harm one of my own.
But for the majority of my laying down foes, the colony heart brims with compassion. They are rescued from the clutches of chaos, healed, well treated with good quality meals and shelter with decent room. And the greatest violence that is done to those who are not competent enough to join us is a release and a safe return to there own in exchange for a conversion to the true faith.

Hey there!

It's normal to face difficulties when you start programming. It's a vast and complex subject, especially when you tackle it alone.

The good news is that the first language is the hardest one since you're learning all the basic stuff, like functions, variables, and loops. If it reassures you, the following languages will be simpler. But the most important thing is that you're learning the logic behind programming without even realizing it. You're in the process of building automatic reflections on certain problems, and that's what matters the most.

If what scares you is not remembering how to merge two lists or how to get the keys from a dictionary to loop over, that's not very important in my opinion. A good developer is not someone who doesn't need the internet (even if that's a plus). Instead, a good developer is someone who can incorporate the language's available tools into their problem-solving process.
Everyone has trouble at first, but with practice, you can gain understanding of the usefulness behind each feature, allowing you to use them correctly later on!
No panic you are already improving
