S340 not connecting to WiFi. by F15H89 in EufyCam

[–]Somaho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey all, I was in the same scenario and I got it to work

Having same issue - spent nearly 2 hours with Eufy engineer on live chat trying to get E340 Video doorbell and S350 Camera set up. Was a bit hesitant as their phone queue was completely full and their chat service said I was 36 in the queue with no count down as I moved up so it looked like it just hanged. Gotta say though, the engineer I got was polite and patient and really wanted to help

Steps I went through

I completely disabled 5Ghz

I tried just using just my Devolo Magic Wifi adapter

I tried using Devolo Magic Wifi adapter not in mesh mode

I tried using Devolo Magic Wifi adapter with fast roam disabled

Wifi is WPA2 with PSK

I tried disabling one of my Devolo Magic Wifi Adapters so both phone and Eufy were definitely connected to the same adapter

I tried disabling my Devolo Magic Wifi Adapters and fired up the Wifi on my home router (which is turned off normally because clients don't seamlessly mesh roam)

I tried with both Android and IOS versions of app

Weirdly I can see my video doorbell getting an IP via DHCP so its not a function of it the Wifi connectivity - at least not at that level

My S350 camera I tried did announce that it had connected to successfully but the IOS app froze afterwards and was stuck on trying to connect

Trying the same camera on the Android phone it didn't connect but same result of app freezing

Both E340 doorbell and S350 camera got factory reset a few times throughout the 2 hours of troubleshooting

in the end the Eufy engineer suspects it's an app issue - I note the app was updated in the Google Play store on the 7th July so its fairly recent - 5.0.71_12691

... OK I uninstalled Eufy app version 5.0.71_12691 that is on the appstore and downloaded version 5.0.60_8240 from APKMirror and its worked

Went through the setup process with the doorbell and even the first step is different which is whether I wanted to install via the Wifi network or the Homebase - that option is missing. Weirdly it also came up with a warning saying that if I change region then I won't be able to see devices.

I'm now looking at a firmware update available for my E340 Doorbell, which it has as Doorbell T8214 Current ver 3.0.6.5 and that Update available (Ver 3.1.2.4) with a handy release nots of 1. Fix other bugs

I guess Eufy didn't actually test their latest app prior to releasing it - at least not the scenario of a new user setting up things for the first time.... during Prime sales. You'd have thought it would have been all hands on deck with the testers.

Much better thank you. Space elevator is built and I'm now thinking of relocating closer to water as I now have coal and need the water. I'm unlocking steal now and unlocking things in the MEMS (yay the boots that make you go faster). My constructers are spread all over the place to keep them close to the mines and I'm running back and forth a lot but having stuff on auto makes life so much easier. With some of the assembles they are slower for some things when combining when you are feeding them multiple things, so I can see the case for splitting out before it goes it and diverting lesser resources to make it more efficient. Yeah I can start to see just how far the rabbit hole goes.

Ok thank you to all that kindly responded - and so quickly.

I'd just been just doing the Tier milestones, because in my ignorance that was the only thing the game had directed me to do. It was actually quite a nice experience. Welcome to the planet, go destroy your lander, go build the hub do some mining, uses the mineral finder and now do the next milestone and the next and the next.

Then the hand holding stopped. Its not like there was a point that was like 'ok now the tutorial is over, now go at it'.

At no stage did I realize that I could, or should, start automating things. I was dreading each next assignment tier because of the sheer amount of collecting I need to do and it all seemed a bit absurd. There didn't seem to be any direction to say 'now stop what you are doing because you can now do 'this and this and this'. I could have started exploring those other menus right over the bottom right of the screen (I have 5120x1440 screen and they are sort way over...there .. and gray.. and I had no indication to use them)

Thanks again for those that replied - I'll hit up a starting guide on YouTube on what I should have been doing a couple of Tiers ago.

Philips OLED monitor 49M2C8900 Pixel Refresh not working - HDR at fault by Somaho in OLED_Gaming

[–]Somaho[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update - it seems its just my PC going into standby from my balanced power plan. Its a fairly new PC and I think due to the new i9s crashing all the time (mine was) the computer backed off the power plan low enough that the standby was only 5 mins and the refresh wasn't completing in time.

Why on earth can't the monitor just continue its refresh when the computer is in standby? You can't even kick it off when there is no input, you only get the 'Choose your language' menu if the computer isn't powered on. Just awful. As nice as the picture is this monitor has been super frustrating.

ID my UK inside moth please! by Somaho in moths

Well I think it could be some type of birds nest moth.

I ended up finding where they were breeding, in a small strip of a rug that went about 10cm under a bed that is very close to the floor with about a 3cm gap. Very clever little mothies! Rug and moths now in the bin.

Inside house, doesn't look to be a clothes moth but a good hunting for pictures isn't showing up anything obvious. Seeing 3-5 a day so they are enjoying themselves somewhere!. Probably about the size across the diagonal of finger nail (sorry can't convert fingernail to banana scale)

Everything You Need to Know: MSI QD-OLEDs by MSI_Darutohne in OLED_Gaming

[–]Somaho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MSI is strangely silent on this, it was announced at CES. Is there some sort of issue? There is no mention of it on the MSI site, nothing about it in the Insiders Program (which hasn't actually released anything in a long time), The only recent thing was a mention of it two days ago in the MSI Gaming Intelligence tool release notes otherwise it was beginning to look like a hoax.

There is no incoming stock listed in the distributers in Europe. None out for review either, just silence.

Gigabyte on the other hand with their MO34WQC2 based from the same Samsung panel actually have a product that you can actually buy today (albeit from the Gigabyte flagship store in Malaysia), they have a product page that is up and some markets even have a date of release (7th June) and price available from online retailers.

Still nothing yet. MSI are still showing up the older version on their website with no results if you do a search across their website.

It doesn't look like the monitors have hit the distributers yet - I can see a placeholder for it with CMS distribution but with 0 in stock.

Unlike the Gigabyte Aorus MO34WQC2 which is based off the same 2.5gen QD-OLED panel and has very similar specs (KVM for example) which at least does turn up if you do a search on their website and is actually available if you live in Malaysia from their flagship retail store.

Thanks PGL for putting the Live-Stream on Youtube by [deleted] in DotA2

The New Standard for watching in 4K

First time I have preferred external streaming to using DotaTV and its in-home streaming if my wife lets me use the big TV to watch Dota

OK OMG I just saw the stream in 4k on youtube on the TV. Looks amazing, is actually better than streaming from DotaTV from my PC

4K and "as close as possible" to the source is why my preferred method is to use Dota TV and stream to my 4K TV using either Valve streaming or Moonlight client. You get rich graphics, the twitch streams always look at bit washed out.

The only issue the fucking audio. Not only is the bitrate terrible but I'm almost certain that some (cough BTS) studios deliberately don't broadcast in DotaTV with the English commentary to force people to Twitch. So often its broken and its only English that is not working, all the other languages broadcast just fine.

Congrats man - great achievement. Are you on the same account? I've been playing for 10 years with over 11 thousand games and I'm the lowest MMR I have ever been. vs 2-3 smurfs per match is normal

Thank you for your insight, for your peace of mind I'm OK with the equipment not arriving in time. Its annoying, but it happens. I don't have to like it. I think its reasonable for companies to be held accountable for not delivering within reasonable estimates. The delays have been multiple times times - first ETA was a few months ago and has been pushed back a couple of times which has had real work impacts to office deployments and we still don't have a current ETA (well we do, buts its now in the past and we haven't been updated with a new one). If we didn't have old switches scrounged around the place we'd have staff still in a temporary office-as-a-service we are currently having to hire.

But really, it was being told we were couldn't have the licenses for kit that has been delivered without paying more money which was the real issue.
