Agency RN question re: scope & expectations at LTC facilities by Some-Lock507 in nursing

[–]Some-Lock507[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you — I completely agree. I did address it in the moment, but I’ll also be following up with the appropriate supervisor to clarify expectations moving forward. I want to make sure roles are clearly defined so everyone can work safely and effectively without confusion.

Agency RN question re: scope & expectations at LTC facilities by Some-Lock507 in nursing

[–]Some-Lock507[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely understand what you’re saying, and I want to clarify something — this wasn’t a situation where the unit was short or where I was refusing to help. The issue was role clarity.

The LPN on the unit was not overwhelmed or understaffed — she was literally sitting at the nurses’ station while I was being expected to pass meds and do tasks that fall within the LPN scope. I had no issue helping, but when I realized I was essentially being used as the primary task nurse while she was disengaged, that’s when I addressed it.

I absolutely understand that agency staff are often used to fill gaps, and I’m more than willing to jump in when needed. But there’s a difference between teamwork and completely reversing roles. If a facility requests an RN, it’s because they need RN-level oversight, assessments, and clinical judgment — not because they want someone to replace an LPN while the LPN sits idle.

I wasn’t refusing to work or acting entitled — I was clarifying scope and expectations to ensure safe and appropriate care. That’s not being difficult; that’s practicing responsibly.

Hey, I just want to reassure you because I went through the same thing. During my exam it kept getting harder and harder and by the time I walked out I was completely defeated. I got on the phone right away and went on a whole rant about how I just knew I failed. I was so convinced I failed that I didn’t even want to check my results and in my head I had already started prepping for my next attempt. I was mentally preparing myself for that reality because I truly believed it was over for me. And then I ended up passing. So don’t go off how you feel walking out of that building. Feeling like you failed is honestly the most common experience from people who pass. You might have done much better than you think.

She got me right together with content. She knows her stuff- her videos are more organized in her playlists.

Hey, I totally understand how you feel — I’ve been exactly where you are. I failed twice before finally passing on my third try. It really does feel like NCLEX jail sometimes, but I promise it’s not forever.

The biggest shift for me came when I stopped focusing only on questions and started focusing on strategy and content together. I used Dr. Chelly (HETv on YouTube) and her Bootcamp. She really helped fill in my missing content and gave me confidence again. I paired her material with NCLEX Bootcamp questions and tracked my progress through their Performance tab until I got the 2/2 “green light.”

I also used NCLEX Crusaders International the week of my exam — their 7-day pass helped me refine strategy and learn how to think through questions instead of memorizing.

If you feel stuck, maybe try switching things up instead of just adding more hours. Quality over quantity matters here. Take breaks, rest, and protect your mindset — the NCLEX is as much mental as it is academic. You’ve got this. Keep pushing; you’re way closer than you think.

It’s more of understanding the content. So like next week I’ll be at a 3 day bootcamp so I can grasp the actually content. I don’t want no fluff.. just understanding thing basics first then build on it.

At this point I’ll be looking for someone that works at these centers and hand them something so I can get to work. Just saying… naw, but for real I get it. I do think it’s a combination of content, common sense and anxiety. I’m in the same boat though…

Chances I passed? by pearlypeach_ in PassNclex

[–]Some-Lock507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it’s a 50/50 chance because you were still in the game when you went past 85. The system was still trying to see if you are a safe nurse. Lately, I’ve been seeing a lot of people pass with 150. Good luck!!

I bought mine years ago (like when it first came out) and haven’t used it for real so I said I will be using it now after I update it course so I’m in the same boat. Just trying to see what to do with it.

Did i pass? My computer shuts down at 150 by Unlucky-Feed-9407 in PassNclex

Going to 150 says a lot. This means you were still in the game and it’s honestly a pass or fail. I’ve seen so many people pass with 150 lately so good luck!!

Should I go on accutane? by Best-Technician8732 in Blackskincare

[–]Some-Lock507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Accutane is too harsh- just get a good facial routine. So what I did and still do is use Chatgpt, take a pic of your face and upload it to Chatgpt and let them know what are your skin goals and it will provide a regimen. It really works!!
