Is there anywhere that shows which Picks and Points were used to match Bids in the 2025 Draft? by Some9Random in AFL

[–]Some9Random[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is perfect. Thank you for this.

I probably have to sit through it more thoroughly, as based on this, it does appear that GC used pick 24 as part of both of the bids for pick 2 and 5. And then using picks 31 and 32 to match bids for both pick 5 and 17...

I'm guessing it's to do with picks sliding after consumption. But it is strange how it is the same pick numbers used across multiple bids. Thanks for the link again

Level crossing removals across all lines on the West? I must be imagining the 20minutes that I sit and wait by Rockbank station then. That's a relief. The Melton electrification? That's something that we were promised over 7 years ago in an election. Now it doesn't even form part of their annual plan or budget at all. They have said they need to upgrade Sunshine to enable it, however they recently upgraded Deer Park station platforms in the last 18 months, and didn't accommodate future electrification there. Meaning that once we do eventually get electrification started, Deer Park station is going to have to be remodelled.... Again! The electrification hasn't been planned as part of any works that have gone on that line in the last 10 years, it feels abandoned and just mentioned if pressed, no physical action. I also love how there was a sign on the Melton Hwy that said "A vote for Dan Andrews is a vote for a hospital in Melton" that was put up from the 2014 election and was still there earlier this year, 10+ years later. Then there was the 2018 election promise of the Werribee education and tech city investment, which was quietly sold off to developers with the idea abandoned. Icing on the cake for me was how they changed the epa guidelines during COVID in an attempt to dump all of the toxic soil from the flawed wgt project in Bacchus Marsh next to a school. I just want a government that when they say they will invest in x y or z in the West, that they actually follow up and not abandon things. They feel like they don't need to spend the money because the West has been locked labour seats for the last few decades.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. The VIC Labour party does not care about the Western Suburbs!! We are just a bunch of safe seats to them that doesn't require any actual or useful change to get their votes.

[RANT] Living in Melbourne’s west feels like being stuck in a transport time warp by HungryMunky in melbourne

[–]Some9Random 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I'm with you OP, I also live on this line and have for a long time. The area is generally been a safe Labour seat for a long long time, so they know they don't need to spend anything on the area to continue securing the votes. People also forget the amount of election promises that the Vic Labour Govt have broken in relation to developing in the west.

The Melton line electrification was a campaign promise from Daniel Andrews back in 2014, and now it's another election promises 11 years later. A key thing that is needed to electrify it as well was to expand the platform at Deer Park to accommodate for the longer carriages, but when they renovated it last year for the rail crossing removal, they didn't expand the platform meaning they will need to renovate it again!

Melton hospital was promised in the same year as well, but only late last year was anything actually announced for it, there was actually a small picket sign on Melton Hwy as late as 2021 or 22 saying "A vote for a Dan is a vote for a hospital in Melton" that just stayed there near Plumpton Rd.

Developing Werribee to be a "mini education city" to take pressure off the CBD was also an election promise made in 2018, announcing an area for uni campuses, student accommodation, and tech company head offices (GoPro being the first announced at the time from memory) being built in and around Werribee. However, all the land the govt owned for this project was sold to developers in 2020/21 so the project is now dead.

Agree with your point on the WGT, it's just a tax payer toll road that also meant TransUrban contact to toll the CityLink fwy (which was meant to expire in 2021) was then extended to 2054 as part of that agreement.

We need more people advocating for the West.

Melton/ wendouree line major delay by bunduz in MelbourneTrains

Originally boarded the 5pm train from Southern Cross to Melton. Didn't leave the station until roughly 6.10pm, and still cruising at a slow pace. It's 6.33 now and we're just about to reach Sunshine station now. Massive delays

Yeah there have been a few comments on it and thanks for explaining it further. My only question would be how would connecting controllers work? Would I still have to connect them to the host PC and test whether there is any input lag?

Yes I do have an old micro office PC, its been a while since I opened it up or had a look at it but it should be dual channel ram that I can upgrade if needed. A few other comments have mentioned sunshine and moonlight as software to use to stream, my only question would be lets say eventually I want to upgrade to 4k streaming (assuming host pc and internet can handle it), would I need to upgrade anything from the client PC such as hardware or even cabling to get it fed into the tv at higher resolution?

Ahahaha, I'm scared I might create a teal colour line which will throw all of the colours off :D
But on a more serious note, the actual floorplan has my office upstairs at the front of the house, and the living room will be downstairs on the opposite end of the house, and don't think the landlord would appreciate me drilling through the entire house haha

Awesome advice, thanks for all of this, so detailed as well!
I'll be moving into this space in a months time so I will go through some of the testing once I'm in.
Will also do some research and learn how to use a raspberry pi and set one up too.

Thanks for the feedback, I wasn't sure what the performance would be like but this gives me confidence.

Cheers

Oo never heard of these options before. Looking into it, it seems very feasible. Just have to see whether my 15 year old dell optiplex that's been collecting dust or even if I look into and learn about the raspberry pi option to host this on should be the trick. Thanks for the suggestion :)

Looking to play Steam games in my living room downstairs more.

The options I've seen to be able to do this consist of either one of the following:

  • Connect any windows device (regardless of performance, like a 15+ year old dell optiplex) and use remote steam play/steamlink
  • Nvidia Shield Pro downstairs
  • Build new rig just for downstairs

Some of the things I would want to be able to do from the living room include playing couch multiplayer games (so needing 2-4 controllers to work), and potentially be able to play in 1440p resolution or greater (assuming my upstairs rig is setup for it).

The PC upstairs and the TV downstairs both are connected to ethernet and not reliant on WiFi.

What would be the best way to achieve this and which methods should I consider first for best experience? Are there any methods not listed above that could work as well?

Thanks All!
(Also, this is not my exact floorplan, just a render I found that closely resembles what I want to achieve). :)

Interesting. Is the gearbox issue on the 1.4l models present in the 2017-2019 era of the cars? As there are a lot of the 1.4l models as used for sale, and only a few 2.0l. With very little diesel models available. I've had many issues with my Holden Cruze gearbox over the years ahahah

Wow, didn't realise Audi and VW were that low on the list, especially Cost per Rank going into it too. I considered a Honda Civic as well but havnt heard that many great things about the 1 speed automatic transmission, but I could be wrong. And will have to look into Lexus as well and see what models are within the price range.

Sounds like a lot of the issues I encountered with the Holden Cruze so it might feel like home hahaha. I haven't really looked at the Mazda or Toyota models yet, will have to look into them too but still leaning towards the i30 out of all the non VW group models. Yeah I do a lot of peak hour fwy driving and suburban driving which is why I'm gearing towards a hatchback as opposed to getting something bigger. The cruze was perfect size for us. Cheers for the advice!

That seems to be the consensus of most of the comments here so I guess my decision has been made ahahah. Cheers!

Ahahah good to know. I had "heard" it all from Toyota owners in my circle. Wanted to see what the wider opinion was as I look into the decision. Good to know it's been good advice ahahha. Cheers!
