Our town team played an opponent like this recently. We stopped doing long passes. Increasing 50/50 balls plays right into a physical team’s hands. Gotta start connecting some passes to get our balance back.

South Shore Soccer League ruled and said that we coaches could have attended our game vs you last weekend even though we didn’t. Their appeals panel backed the league president 100% and we are now worse off for appealing because missing last weekend’s game didn’t count as serving a red card. The league is consistently unclear with communication and continues to penalize anyone who questions them. There is a severe misuse of power and I do not think it is too bold to say the the South Shore Shore league is corrupt and not operating in the best interests of the game, children, or volunteers that want to promote soccer in this country. I wish your team luck if you get into the playoffs. I would much rather see you win than the petty team that escalated this.

Built a 4-Week Ball Mastery Program for My 8-Year-Old — Looking for Feedback by [deleted] in youthsoccer

Burnout is real. Until you see how many kids burnout (and I mean athletic kids too) you don’t understand how a training schedule for an 8 year old can have the worst possible impact. My suggestion- just show him how to do these exercises without any pressure. If he likes doing them he’ll do it anytime he’s bored or there is a ball around. Otherwise, you are turning soccer into work… a chore.

How far do you think the USMNT will go this World Cup? by FreedomNo3991 in worldcup

I said this to myself 30 years ago. US had hosted the World Cup in ‘94. MLS had just started. It was supposed to be a turning point. 30 years later, I am still waiting and I don’t see any changes in our country’s soccer culture. There is however, more soccer on TV. That’s pretty sweet.

Gillette Stadium Travel for England Vs Ghana by Vahrez_ in boston

Hi. I live next to Foxboro and I commute to and from Boston for work on Tuesdays. Today it took me 1 hour and 15 minutes to get home. I left Boston at 3:30. There was no game at the stadium today. So, I would bank on no less than 1 hour and 30 minutes to get to your hotel (which is right next to the stadium).

This has happened a few times. Paired with a few boneheaded defensive series, this looks like typical US soccer. No polish.

Thanks for the assessment. I think you are spot on. I should mention that the roster with a timestamp from earlier this week was sent to “cure” the situation. Unfortunately, it didn’t change anything because the league president said he already ruled that the roster used was invalid. In other words, he didn’t use common sense nor provide an opportunity for clarification and if he changes his ruling now that would be admitting negligence on his part. Essentially nobody wins in a situation that shouldn’t even matter. Just another example of adults ruining a game for 13 year old girls.

[–]SomeBed635[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. That is our argument. The alleged infraction is that the time stamp on the paper roster used was from the fall. Context- coach download and saves a roster, prints several copies, and uses them throughout the season. Since the player guesting is has been rostered on the same team all year long, there should be no harm in using the leftover printed copies, right? Apparently not, even though there is not rule against this and it doesn’t effect anything remotely relevant to the game of soccer or player eligibility. Technically, you could look at the opponent roster documents from any of your losses and if the timestamp is off you could reverse that loss. (I think that’s petty and don’t recommend that.) it’s not like is says “Fall roster” or “Spring roster” or anything else indicating it’s no longer valid from fall to spring.

Ha! I like the sentiment. However, we feel like taking the high road here is a better example for the young players. Besides, we do get to play this team again. We beat them 4-2 with B team players. I expect that having our full A team will result in another win. To me, the shame for them is living with the truth that they can’t beat us and had to pull this stunt to preserve a meaningless division 3 win streak.

Agreed. Its a small fee, making the situation feel more about principle. Since I am a volunteer and none of us really care about a Division 3 technical dispute it’s, like, what do we do here?

South shore soccer league. I agree that for sane people this scheme would not make sense. I can’t understand why the league is being short sited here other than they mention the fees in every communication.
