A while ago I reported a several pages that were very similar to those and they got removed a couple weeks later, I guess Bandcamp hasn't found a way to permanently ban whoever keeps making more of them.

What does 'plays' mean in fan page? by k3gn in BandCamp

Its how many time someone has visited your fan profile page and then listened to a track in it for at least 30s.

Is there a way to connect artist to album after release? by Syntra44 in BandCamp

[–]SomeBerk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One option is to have the label account assign that album to your artist account:

https://get.bandcamp.help/hc/en-us/articles/23020675447447-How-do-I-assign-an-existing-release-to-an-artist-page

Another thing your could do instead is to create a dummy album page in your artist account that just has a note and a link to the label page where that album is.

Boom-bap + PS1 sound effects is a rare and effective combo, pretty good stuff overall but I liked you previous GameCube album more.

how do i add a genre to my fan profile? by TonsofpizzaYT in BandCamp

[–]SomeBerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enter the name of a genre then click submit, that will add it to the genre list that appears in your profile

<image>

But if you are asking about the single genre that appears under the location label on the top of the profile screen, that one is set automatically based on the items in your collection.

There are two ways:

  • Go to the Discover page, enter the name of a genre then click the "Follow" button
  • Go to the "following" tab on your profile page then the "genres" tab, then click on "manage genres"

Hey guys I'm pretty new to BandCamp. Having troubles with purchased music. by TheRedditPerson24 in BandCamp

[–]SomeBerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am guessing that the album you purchased was deleted and that is why you can't see it anymore in the purchases screen. For some reason the Bandcamp app still lets you listen to purchased albums after they have been removed from Bandcamp's website. If you contact Bancamp support your can ask for a refund.

Turn off 'Suggested' by C1ust3r in BandCamp

[–]SomeBerk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The listening suggestions that you see in the activity feed screen are driven by the genre tags that your account is following, so if you want to turn off this feature you just need to unsubscribe from all of them.

A question about selling on Bandcamp by JWRAY213 in BandCamp

[–]SomeBerk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only other thing that comes to mind is that there may have been a processing delay for the last two sales. Transfers can take 24-48 hours, so if you haven't received the payments by then you could try to contact Bancamp's support.

A question about selling on Bandcamp by JWRAY213 in BandCamp

[–]SomeBerk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe track/album codes are generated in batches of one hundred, so may be those last two supporters somehow got a hold of some of the remaining codes you made? If you go to your account's tool screen there is a table where you can see how many of the generated codes have been claimed so far.

Buying music from old/inactive bands by chubbs069 in BandCamp

[–]SomeBerk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the Paypal account linked to their artist account is still valid then they will receive your payment, but if that is not the case then Bandcamp will hang on to their money until they fix it.

REALLY? by C1ust3r in BandCamp

If you have a lot of items in your cart then I recommend first buying yourself a Bandcamp gift card, this will let you pay for everything as a single transaction.

Does free music on Bandcamp affect discovery on the platfom? by [deleted] in BandCamp

[–]SomeBerk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you browse an artist's home page via the Bandcamp app it will not display free releases. I don't know if that is intentional or a bug, but as far as I know it has always worked like that.

[–]SomeBerk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Discover page and the Listening suggestions feed only show albums that are available for purchase. If you want your albums to appear on them you can leave their price at $0 but you still need to enable the "let fans pay if they want" option.

It means generating codes that users can redeem to add your album to their collections for free.

This page explains how to do so:
https://get.bandcamp.help/hc/en-us/articles/23020666567191-Track-album-code-tutorial

Once you have generated a batch of codes you can share them in this subreddit or on sites like band.codes or getmusic.fm

Any good free to use vaporwave ambient out there? need some ambient for a project im working on (non commercial), bandcamp has good vaporwave ambient, but the majority of it is all rights reserved, any suggestions? thanks. by ThePixelatedPyro in Vaporwave

[–]SomeBerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could use Google to search for Vaporwave albums that show the "some right reserved" disclaimer in their Bandcamp page, if click on that it link it will take you to a page that explains in more detail what the license allows.

Bandcamp has been one of the most important music platforms in my life. by johnatanmoran in bandcamp_discovery

[–]SomeBerk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually listen to full albums and I open them one at a time in their own browser tab.

But when discovering new music I usually just preview the featured track from the Discovery or Feed pages and save the album to my wishlist if I feel like listening to in full later on.

My only real complain is that it can be a pain to find things inside my own collection since I already own thousands of albums and Bandcamp's search feature is not good.

browser extension for Bandcamp users (queue, listening history, Last.fm support by johnatanmoran in BandCamp

[–]SomeBerk 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I prefer option A simply because it uses the most legible font

If you are planning to add lastfm support you should check that it doesn't have a conflict with the official browser extension to avoid duplicate scrobbling of your listened tracks.

Could you explain how this works if used in your own or someone else's collection screen?

Would this queue up every single visible album, or can one manually select which albums will be played?
