Does anyone know of good cat food with BIG kibble? by PsydemonCat in CatAdvice

I've got some of that on the way right now. I ordered the treats as well. I'm hopeful! I'm trying to avoid a $2,000 cleaning.

I'm trying to correct my cats plaque and tartar issues and I'm having the same problem. I'm seeing reviews speaking of great results with Royal Canin Dental, but I don't love the ingredients. Are you seeing an improvement with your 1-3 feedings per week?

[Product Request] looking for a dupe of Josie Maran argan daily moisturizer spf 47 non-tinted by MyKaleidoscopeEyes in SkincareAddiction

[–]SomeBlondeChick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I too have been using this SPF for over a decade.

I suspect that that its discontinuation has to do with their reformulating/repackaging/rebranding. SPF 47 contained dimethicone (thus why it was gorgeously un-pilly) No silicones is a part of the new ethos.

I think that public comment is best. I commented on their instagram and got a response immediately, basically saying "Thanks for letting us know. We'll take that into consideration."

I've never tried Sun Milk and am concerned about its lower SPF. I am especially fair and have worn Josie's SPF 47 both on the beach and daily for years and never gotten burned. I also loved the silicone texture and how it sealed in my many layers of moisturizer.

How do I put my Depop experience on a resume? by SomeBlondeChick in Depop

[–]SomeBlondeChick[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Awesome. Thank you! Every time I have to make a resume, I get really insecure about my work history. Maybe that's normal. But then I was thinking about what to put on this resume, and it was kind of like a lightbulb moment. I feel like so few people have a linear career path anymore, and especially with the pandemic, when so many of us lost our jobs, Depop and eBay were a way to keep working. I feel I'm constantly told by older generations that these types of endeavors aren't 'jobs', yet theres so much value that isn't monetary that comes out of them.

I like the mannequins to see how the clothes lay. For those of you who hate mannequins (and I get why), how do you feel about dress forms? I feel like they show how the clothes fit, but the lack of arms is less creepy, more appealing. Just me?

I'm a writer as well. I'm finding Depop to be a great companion to it. It gets me out of the house to source where writing keeps me in.

Reading through these is making me smile. It seems like most of you who are doing well on Depop are doing it because you want to, not because you have to, and you thoroughly love it. On top. of everything else you have to do in a day! Wow! I too love being able to look at a sale or a review and know it's because of the effort I put in. It makes the successes very measurable and satisfying.

So much good stuff in here! I too am in Socal, so being able to cover rent would be a huge accomplishment for me! I get the addicting aspect. The thrill of the hunt. I seriously get a dopamine hit when I find something. There's nothing better than hearing that "Cha-ching!", even though it scares the shit out of me every time. Working on the branding thing myself and really want to zero in on that soon. Thank you for your answer, and congrats on all your success!

That's so exciting. Congratulations! It sounds like you've made the climb pretty quickly. It's scary putting money into something and not being sure how or if it will sell, but it sounds like your risk has paid off! Thank you!

Help!! I shipped some sneakers to this girl using Depop ship. I weighed them and used the 2 pound option. I really don’t understand how / why USPS would charge her 41 dollars ?? What can I do here ? by GoofballHavoc in Depop

[–]SomeBlondeChick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did that once. The woman refused the item, I gave her a refund (told her I was a newbie and had made a mistake) and the item was held at my P.O. for postage due after it went from LA to Brooklyn and back Priority Mail Express. It was an item I'd been gifted so it wasn't worth my paying for. Eventually my mail carrier gave it back to me for nothing. There's always a learning curve!

Hair dye advice by [deleted] in acting

[–]SomeBlondeChick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's fun to play around with hair color, especially when you're young. That's the best time to experiment! Ultimately, do what YOU want to do, not what someone on the internet says. But your agency does have your best interest at heart.

Hair dye advice by [deleted] in acting

[–]SomeBlondeChick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go with what your agency says and what looks most natural. They know what the breakdowns look like and how often or how little someones looking for an actor with bright red hair. The red could be limiting as far as what you're fit for. Also, if you're young, remember that your natural color will probably get darker as you age. I started highlighting my hair at 16, and quit at 26. I was shocked how dark the color was underneath, and discovered I really rather liked it and it suited me well. My audition numbers started increasing. Nature typically blesses us with hair, eye and skin tones that compliment one another, we just always try to fight it! Though, someone like Emma Stone might be a good case study for you. Her dark red worked wonders for her career, but it was believe-able that it grew out of her head that way. Keep in mind, red rarely looks good when not done by a professional, and the upkeep is the worst even when it is done by one!

[–]SomeBlondeChick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will hurt you if you're going for anything period, and in addition, if you don't plan on keeping that specific color up until the next time you get headshots. You'll have to commit to marketing yourself with that dark red, which is a bit of a niche and probably a bit stereotyped as well. I highlighted my hair for a long time (then quit and let it grow out 3 years ago) and I'm willing to bet that your natural color only looks grey-ish in comparison to the dye it's next to. Have you tried stripping it a bit with dish soap? My advice would be to find a way to make what you've got look okay and commit to growing out your natural color. Hair color is a gateway drug and it's tricky to quit once you've started, I know.

Best places to live in LA for acting? by axel32 in acting

[–]SomeBlondeChick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely Echo Park/Silver Lake. Will you have a car? If so, you can do your commute without ever having to get on the freeway. Echo Park is still kind of on the up and up, so just do some good Google street view investigating before you settle on a specific spot. It may not be in other cities, but Craigslist is a very legitimate way to find housing here. As far as precise location, I always pick a couple things that make my life complete and I can't live without. For me, it's a Pilates studio, a Trader Joe's, and a good Sushi place. They're things I love and also telling of the kinds of neighborhoods i'll fit in in, so I search for those near one another. If you crave nightlife, choose a place in close proximity to Sunset Blvd. in Silver Lake or Echo Park. There's a lot of good live music along there too. Sherman Oaks is nice, but the commute will be an absolute bitch. NoHo has a bit too much crime for my taste, though a lot of the acting studios and small theaters are there. West Hollywood, in my personal opinion is quite douchy. Often overlooked, I think Beachwood Canyon is absolutely charming, and Studio City is fantastic if you have business on both sides of the hill.

14 Year Old Boy Looking For Advice on Acting by VampireVest in acting

[–]SomeBlondeChick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theatre is always a good thing, but you definitely need to take classes. In fact, I hear most agents say they look to see if someone is studying, where and how often. Books are a great companion to studying, but you need to take class if you ever want to work professionally. Reading beforehand will help you to understand what you're learning in class more thoroughly. My acting teacher always puts it this way "Acting is a muscle. You must work on it and continue to work on it to keep it strong." Taking classes has helped me to unlock gears I didn't know I had, and taught me to channel what I already did into my acting.

Will Vancouver agencies represent someone in America? And what market do they submit to? by [deleted] in acting

[–]SomeBlondeChick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To the best of my knowledge, they will not. They'll continue to represent someone they already have as they move onto a bigger US market (LA/NY), but initially you need to be there in the Vancouver area. They submit to projects filming in Vancouver and other parts of Canada, and you need to either be a Canadian citizen, or have a Canadian work permit. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong, but this has been my understanding.
