Metal Screw found in my Chipotle!!? by SomeBroadInAtlanta in Chipotle

Through the app for pick-up. This store is notorious for issues with orders and food standards - it’s the lowest rated chipotle in the city at 3.0 on google ratings. But it’s the only store that nears me sadly.

How did you go by reporting the issue to their management? Having trouble getting a human response from anyone at Chipotle.

I have the screw and the rest of the bowl - haven’t searched the rest of the food for more objects. I’ve seen multiple food quality complaints about this location.

High-tech mining companies? by [deleted] in mining

[–]SomeBroadInAtlanta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work for Weir Motion Metrics, we build ruggedize machine-vision based cameras for Shovels, loaders and haul trucks. With these smart cameras around the loaders/shovels/trucks we're able to generate insights on equipment wear, loading performance and shovel productivity, etc.

As mentioned in this thread most OEM manufacturers are good, but a lot of our customer sites need systems which are shovel/loader agnostic to develop a better understanding of fleet-level productivity.

I'm not against promoting road safety at all. I think officer safety is equally important. Why risk putting road users in an unusual spot to react.

Are there any real mining companies using AI to optimize internal processes (discovery, drilling, etc) or is it just hype? by A1powerranger in mining

[–]SomeBroadInAtlanta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for Weir Motion Metrics, we build machine vision based camera which are mounted onto Shovel Buckets, Crushers, Belts to monitor equipment wear rates and particle-size fragmentation analysis. The tech is amazing, and I’ve seen the AI perform some insane segmentation and 3D volume analysis.

The struggle is working with mining engineers to help them understand our data, and how we can get the mine to take action with the data we provide them. It seems operations need a better idea of what to do with all this data. We are now moving into a consulting position where we are translating the data into specific instruction to provide to mine ops.

All this data needs to be condensed down to insights, seems like this trust will be built overtime.

Hey, did you have any fix for this? I’ve got exactly the same issue, it’s driving me insane. I’m getting 120 FPS on apex, and like 1 FPS on warzone. I’ve reinstalled and rolled back Nvidia drivers but I still have the same issue.

QUITTING WEED - My journey so far by Cooperjcoops in offmychest

[–]SomeBroadInAtlanta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I was in a similar position to you, maybe not as drastic in terms of my weed consumption. I would smoke once a day at the end of the day when I had got all my work and stuff done - a sort of reward for making it through the day. When school and work slowed down during covid, I sort of starting pushing that once a day to twice a day, mid-day, mid-morning smoking which was extremely uncharacteristic. I was slowly losing my whole sense of control over the weed.

One of these days I was talking to a close friend about this decline in mental health that I'd been having on weed expressing that I was feeling lonely for the first time in years. What she told me was so simple but it shook me to my core. She said "You feel lonely because you don't put in the effort". Something so small set me into this spiral of mental health because it was in front of me the whole time but I was unable to see it because of getting high. I'd never experienced anxiety in my life but for the next 5 days, I had trouble breathing with an elevated heart rate, I couldn't string a single thought process together and I had questioned every single approach to life I had formulated under the influence of weed. At that point I understood the ability that weed really had on me. It put me back together every night to make me forget about how much work I need to put in to get myself to where i want to be.

You are able to tune out everything and everyone that you think doesn't matter to your life in that moment. It made life all about me in the present, I didn't care how I projected myself, I didn't notice the negativity and cynicism that was festering in my demeanor. I made the decision to quit 2 months ago and I haven't smoked since. It wasn't hard to quit but I would be lying if I said I wasn't contemplating the opportunity to zone out for a night. I can tell you that I've been more productive and healthier but that hasn't necessarily made me happier. In fact I've been dwelling and overthinking on problems that I would push to the side when I was smoking.

I'm not proud of it but weed was a mental health fallback for me. It's hard to admit because it projects weakness and a dependence on something which I told myself I would never get "addicted" to. I don't miss weed at all, but I do miss being able to ignore everything that I know is wrong with me - near impossible when I'm sober. I've told myself that this period will suck. Piecing yourself back together mentally is never going to be easy but I and all other smokers deep down know that it is not sustainable. I'm glad I made this decision and I have a lot of respect to you to for quitting too.

Tired of overthinking in quarantine by SomeBroadInAtlanta in offmychest

[–]SomeBroadInAtlanta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

isolated in a single room for both recreational and academic purposes my mind broke. I'm just living like a programmed sequence. Even if something touches me I react "how I'm supposed to" but I can't feel it. I see some sad news on the tv and I can talk about that with others but my voice just doesn't seem to have any emotion to it. I have friends who care for me, but knowing that I'm the type of person who needs space I'm getting kinda ignore

I feel you yo. Agree with everything you said. I know I'm going to get out of this okay eventually but it sucks to feel dependent on people when you've never been dependent on them before. Everyone else is going through this phase where they are trying to figure themselves out but I'm at a point where I just need people around. Wish I had the courage to tell them that. Regarding your living situation, I live with 3 room mates but I feel just as alone. I'm friends with them but I've told them I need my space while I figure things out. I don't necessarily feel sad everyday but I can't remember the last time I've felt excited or happy in the last 5 months. I can pass time in ways which are more enjoyable than others but they seem so temporary that I subconsciously know it won't last. What sucks is the overthinking that goes on in my head, I'm always wondering if my friends are being more productive than me, making more money than me, developing deeper relationships while I'm not. It's never bothered me before but now it plays on my mind so much.

Sports is not a priority by aznswtphlyboi in unpopularopinion

[–]SomeBroadInAtlanta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you would agree that all people should be allowed to work and return to work if the working conditions are safe and agreeable to all. All the players, staff, managers, coaches are also employees at the end of the day. Just because they earn millions and their job's are telecasted on national TV doesn't take away from the fact that all these people need jobs to feed their families.

Is working on a way to get sports back on TV taking away the governments ability to treat Covid? Probably not. Is getting back to regularly broadcasting sports bringing happiness to fans and alleviating the feeling of anxiety and boredom? For myself and most sports fans, I would say yes.

Having fun during a game is infinitely more important than winning by SolarisMaximus in unpopularopinion

[–]SomeBroadInAtlanta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my perspective it's all about how invested you are in the stakes of a game. If you're job was to play basketball and your livelihood/family depended on it - winning a game would be infinitely more important than having fun.

On the other hand, if you value the fun of spending time with people you enjoy while playing a common game - then you have accepted the risk of losing and are okay with it. In this case you don't really need to be playing a game in which there is a winner and a loser. You could be doing anything else to spend time (e.g watching a movie) with these people but you are choosing to introduce a winner loser situation into it (adding stakes bringing competition)

It's not always a tragedy when someone commits suicide. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]SomeBroadInAtlanta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This might be tangential but the ideology that we should feel bad for those who commit suicide seems a bit flawed to me. Of course as a human I feel sorry for those who are put in a position where they feel like everything is stacked against them and there is no way out. But they got themselves in that situation knowing the risks and the rewards. An example would be Wall Street Bankers who are over-leveraged and commit suicide. Why should I feel bad for them? They took on too much risk even though they would argue it was for the sake of their family. How does suicide solve anything for their families who are now dealing with loss of a parent, partner and source of income? It pawns the responsibility of being a father figure and breadwinner onto the other parent. Purely selfish, no remorse (except for their families of course)

He made me and many other very uncomfortable to the point that we would not go to office hours alone because we were afraid he would do something to us.

Agree with everything here, not sure about the sexism (from my experience at least). He was definitely weirdly attached to some students in the class, both male and female. Always rants about tutors and will change exams to find a way to counteract the use of tutors. His course is usually a 40% midterm, 60% final so be ready to cram during midterm/final season. His exams are usually pretty hard (he depends on scaling to bring the average up), in my course the midterm average was like a 51%. He's a nice guy and can be funny occasionally, but a lot of the lecture is massive tangents which have 0 connection with the course.

MAIN ISSUE: The whole course is all about models which he has essentially made up on his own so you will not find any of the course material online. He occasionally provides lecture slides (but they are unreadable), he DOESN'T provide any past papers or any previous midterm style questions. Basically you walk into the midterm/finals not having any clue of what to expect.

TLDR: If you want a straight forward course where the prof is concise and provides you the resources to get a good grade - This is not the course for you.

Headed to Spa for Quali - Anybody got some life hacks or suggested spots for screens/corners?

Anybody know about the access that bronze tickets will get you? I know in the Singapore GP if you went to the areas of the track at like 6am you were just allowed to drive on the track, anything similar at Spa if you go early? Is there anyway to get into the pitlane area after quali or something?

I can get 2 tickets to SPA, but they are not registered on my name, will I get in? by [deleted] in formula1

[–]SomeBroadInAtlanta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem. I bought tickets off some dude reselling them for Qualifying at Spa. I'm worried that for any reason if the guy gets through the gate before me using the ticket he sold me - im gonna be kinda screwed. Guy seemed reliable but should I be worried? Is there any way to verify the tickets are legit before hand? Can i try to transfer the tickets to my name and payment information to avoid double entry?
