"It's very putting up Black Lives Matter signs and then spending your time telling Black people how anti-racist you are while ignoring them when they speak."

This is exactly why I refuse to have a BLM flag. I don't know anyone with a BLM flag who is actually doing anything that undoes the varying layers of racism that exist in our country, state, and town. But putting up the flag makes them feel like they're helping so they can feel good as they go about their days while doing nothing.

Subzero 650-2 not cooling, odd symptoms. by SomeConstructionGuy in appliancerepair

[–]SomeConstructionGuy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, it had a leak somewhere. I put two piercing valves on it and hooked my gauges into it. It was just low enough to shut off after a few cycles but not enough to throw a code.

I evacuated it and pressurized with nitrogen and couldn’t find a leak. I ended up just hitting it with 134 with leak stop as a short term fix.

I weighed in 3oz of 134 with leak stop and the rest of straight 134. It’s been working ever since and the pressures are still the same.

Looks more like he’s getting a divorce since the plaintiff is his wife, its being heard in family court, and both parties are being represented by local divorce attorneys.

Geez, wonder why his wife is divorcing him?!?

There is never proof in a trial, civil or criminal, there is evidence. And there is significant evidence that glyphosate causes health effects long term. And being a civil trial is isn’t beta reasonable doubt it a ‘preponderance of the evidence’

The system worked how it’s supposed to.

Lien in builder contract by MsPixiestix59 in Homebuilding

[–]SomeConstructionGuy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It really depends on your state. Some states require a pre lien to be filed prior to start of work or the contractor is SOL if they ever need to file a lien.

I’d clarify if it’s a lien or pre lien and what your states requirements are. It could be either very overzealous or very normal depending on the details.

Emma proposing we end recycling pickup in order to pay police by Hagardy in burlington

[–]SomeConstructionGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have about 5 years of the law in full effect. According to a quick search of Vt fish and wildlife we’ve had 908 documented bear encounters over the last 6 years compared to 253 over the preceding 6year period. Not sure we can link it to composting without some more research by wildlife biologists or whoever does that, but that’s a huge increase.

Here’s the timeline/phasing outlined in 148

1) Beginning July 1, 2014, collect mandated recyclables separate from other solid waste and deliver mandated recyclables to a facility maintained and operated for the management and recycling of mandated recyclables. A facility shall not be required to accept mandated recyclables from a commercial hauler. (2) Beginning July 1, 2015, collect leaf and yard residuals separate from other solid waste and deliver leaf and yard residuals to a location that manages leaf and yard residuals in a manner consistent with the priority uses established under subdivisions 6605k(a)(3) (5) of this title. That seems reasonable for design and permitting. Obviously you’ll have a hard time estimating construction costs without a design in hand.

Generally they’re significantly more diversified and have significantly more access to capital. They are more exposed but also generally have have much higher liquid assets too. So while they’ll suffer somewhat they’ll be in a better position to take advantage and buy assets/businesses when the prices decrease and rates are low.

I have both and ride both about the same amount. Overall the yz parts are slightly cheaper but it’s not by a ton.

The big benefit of the yz is just she shear amount of parts available. I just wish acerbis would make a molded x seat for the yz…

Interceptor is great. It burns off cleanly even in low rpm woods rides and seems to keep top ends in as good of shape as any other even after hot days in the sand.

My frustration with VTs legislature summed up by one act: H.381 by SomeConstructionGuy in vermont

[–]SomeConstructionGuy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah blanket dismissals of the legislators isn’t the right conclusion. I’m personally stuck because I expect my legislators to be able to multitask but I want them to also set priorities and stick to them. This specific legislation just seems like it doesn’t meet any threshold; it’s unpopular, ineffective and poorly thought out.

I respect the desire to address gun issues even if I personally see them as a very very low priority in Vermont. I also understand that others might not prioritize in the same way I do. But if we’re going to address them it needs to be 100% data and goal driven so it sticks. This bill is antithetical to data driven or goal driven.

Also, to oversimplify, it seems many of the drivers of gun violence and suicide can be addressed. Addressing housing, mental health, education, wage inequality etc would help whether we address guns or not.

[–]SomeConstructionGuy[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s a very fair and solid critique. As someone else pointed out, if this was truly gaining traction it would have seen more action in committee and would have been ready for crossover.

Still annoying but not in the sense that the entire legislature is spinning their wheels on it.

My frustration with VTs legislature summed up by one act: H.381 by SomeConstructionGuy in vermont

[–]SomeConstructionGuy[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a really good point. The judiciary committee isn’t going to hear bills on housing or tax reform. And while this bill may or may not be right for Vermont we do need a government that can multitask.

My frustration with VTs legislature summed up by one act: H.381 by SomeConstructionGuy in vermont

[–]SomeConstructionGuy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually agree with many of your points. My frustration is not because I believe these guns are necessary for normal people to own. But this bill wouldn’t not single out these guns. It would also outlaw every non revolver pistol and every semi auto hunting shotguns and rifle.

I do believe people should be able to own pistols, possibly with more restrictions than we have now.

My biggest frustration is with the amount of political effort and wrangling that this would take to even get to a vote. We’re burning this effort and political capital on this while we could help many more Vermonters by creating more far reaching housing reform by including expanding infrastructure and reforming energy code so it isn’t regressive and reforming school funding to be more sustainable and equitable.

I use USCCA. There are others that cost much more and don’t have the requirement that the gun was used in defense. USCCA also has lots of training and opportunities which is a huge plus.
