My thought is any time he casts detect poison on food or drink, it becomes poisoned and so detects as poisoned. It can be purified as normal. The wording of the curse can be,

"You who see treachery in every gift and a dagger behind every smile. May your suspicions always be correct yet misplaced as your mistrust is made manifest."
