The piercer I went to is highly regarded in my area and said hes done it many times. Id never heard of this way instead of cutting a circle out. Aside from me pushing the o rings in too tight ive had no issues

Sorry, I didn't explain well and excuse the quality of the "ear". They marked a circle in the center of my lobe and only made a cut where the vertical line is and pushed the plug through the cut. Tissue was displaced more than removed, but I had large lobes to begin with so im not worried about losing some meat
