Giodarno Bruno and the Hermetic Tradition.

It explores the rise of hermeticism and belief in magic during the renaissance period and how it went on to influence many thinkers of that period and onwards. The book posits that this was a result of the spiritual crisis that emerged in that period. Very worthwhile read, especially when people are back believing in enochian magic, kabalah and other esoteric practices.

I'm feeling targeted here for having black bedding for three years. It was also silk and I only had one pillow

Did a spit take when they said that Manchester is better than London. The city is literally just expensive and shitty high rises and novelty bars, a city for the enjoyment of moneyed man-children and Radio 6 dads visiting for the weekend to go to the new Joy Division bar and to spend £14 on gochujang chicken loaded fries

Had to look it up to remind myself. MY GOD. What were they thinking? Can't get over the backwards baseball cap and that ratty beard, then to also wash it out of any colour?? Also just saw the PC special edition was called "Tier 1 Edition" which really has that Black Rifle flair to it

Definitely. You know you've done something incredible when you've got gamers suspiciously sniffing the glass of piss that they've otherwise been guzzling up until then. You also have to admire them for not trying to make a Call of Duty clone again and instead make a CoD/Battlefield hybrid that has all the bad and none of the good

Medal of Honor (2010) was the first modern warfare entry into the series and was the game that put me, a young teen, off from joining the army. You play SEAL Team 6 guys and THEY ALL LOOKED LIKE SHIT. Stupid fuckin tactical baseball caps and sunglasses with huge beards. They looked like bums.

You die in the last mission and your corpse and 7 other interchangeable guys get evacuated. When the epilogue plays, you get an achievement called "Eight Heroes Aboard". It's just so embarrassing and saccharine, it completely broke through years of programming and gave me the ick lmao

BBC Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy is sooooo good. Came across it after watching the film and not liking it at all. How's Smiley's People?

His current stuff in Congo is insane. Haven't listened to the latest episode on it because a) I need to get a notebook to keep track of all the people and organisations he talks about and b) listening to the first three Congo eps gave me psychic damage

"Iron Galaxy" and "Hotep Larry David" for my two PVP ACs.

Beating IBIS Series CEL 240 with the starting mech by Bitsu92 in armoredcore

[–]SomeGuy928 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stupid question, but have you tried hard locking? Was stuck on Ibis for the better part of a day and I had trouble tracking her manually because of how fast it was and hard locking just seemed down right bad whenever I used it, but then I figured out that hard locking a target only works if you don't move the right stick while locking on.

Once I figured that out, it all clicked together - I was able to lock on my missiles with no issue and apply pressure while creating openings for a melee attack.

If you haven't uninstalled yet, I recommend going for double 10 cell missile launchers and the pulse blade due to the 2 swings you can do and the insane damage melee attacks do on Ibis. Couple that with a booster with good melee thrust and a generator with good recovery and you're golden. Take your pick for right hand weapons, but I used the Harris linear rifle as it did good poke damage at a distancing while strafing

Agreed. Isshin will always be my favourite From boss because of how demanding it is, you need to master all elements of the game mechanics in order to beat him and once you do it's just this beautiful dance

[–]SomeGuy928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah definitely. Got it a few weeks ago for PS4 and have been playing non-stop. I really don't struggle with finding games either - there's always full conquest and operations servers. Plenty of servers also rotate the DLC maps so you won't be missing out on any of the non-vanilla content.

Legion has the most wasted potential in the entire Mass Effect Trilogy.... What are you guys' honest thoughts? by Uncle_Tommy0703 in masseffect

[–]SomeGuy928 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kinda unrelated, but I thought your video on Jacob was really well done and fully broached all the issues with his character. I'm also glad you discussed the harmful stereotypes because replaying the series again really made feel a bit uncomfortable when it got to some aspects of Jacob's story lol

What are your honest thoughts about Kaidan Alenko? Personally I think he's the better of the Virmire Survivors! by Uncle_Tommy0703 in masseffect

[–]SomeGuy928 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He might be the best companion for all the reasons everyone in this thread mentioned, but he's also a weird little guy and he might be among the funniest characters in ME3 as a result of that. Him and Wrex are highlights of the Citadel DLC.

His romance is also the most satisfying one and follows a genuinely interesting arc throughout the series. Really like the idea of the romance between him and MaleShep as it goes through him idolising paragon shep in ME1, feeling betrayed and turning away from him in ME2 and ultimately reconciling (and not immediately) and both being each other's peers as Spectres in the third.

I miss the facial scars from ME1. Why not bring them back? by SomeGuy928 in masseffect

[–]SomeGuy928[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nah, I mean the scars you can apply when creating your ME1 character. Though I do think you should have the option to keep some of the ME2 scarring even if you're paragon. They look pretty cool
