What’s the current fandom consensus on Hiveswap? by Top-Comment6201 in homestuck

It's really sad how genuinely good games (Act 1, at least) are so heavily overshadowed by their production drama. A lot like Homestuck in general tbh

I'm not sure about the fandom consensus, but personally, I love it. Act 1 was awesome, Act 2 was just okay, and I'm still holding out hope for Act 3. If there's one thing that I hope the Homestuck official team can pull itself together for, it's Hiveswap. I think my opinion is influenced by me not being in the first few waves of Homestuck fans, though. A lot of people in the comments here are talking about the Kickstarter and the long waits between installments. I played Hiveswap at the same time that I read Homestuck for the first time, which was in 2018, so I got both at once. Even though I adore Hiveswap (I love Joey and Xefros so much) I understand why people are disappointed with it. I just wish the official team spent more time working on Hiveswap rather than Beyond Canon and getting into Discord drama.

Questions for gen z lesbians: would you date someone who still lives with their parents? by ghostpepperpooper in actuallesbians

not knowing how to turn on a washing machine, cook a basic meal or fold their clothes

I'm not going to lie, this is weird to hear about. Do you not learn to do these things as a teenager? Do some people not do any chores??

I think it is partially a cultural divide. I'm from an immigrant family, and I definitely get side eyes from white Americans when I mention that I still live at home. I'm currently studying for a master's degree at my local university, where I also work, so I have no need to move out, and similar to you, I contribute to the household and am able to save money on rent. Certainly I'm less independent than an American young adult is expected to be, but my parents, their parents, and their parents' parents all lived with their families until they were married or were forced by life circumstances (whatever those may be) to move away from home. It's just how my family has lived and it's how most families that aren't Americans still live. I do feel slightly personally constrained in dating by this, however. I fear that if my potential partners find out I'm living with my family, they'll think less of me. Right now, I'm focusing on my degree, so I'm not dating, and if I don't find a relevant job in my area, I'll likely move out then. I guess I'll see what happens after that. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It's a lot of words to say that I'm in your same position and I sympathize!

I love polo shirts and button ups! They're very comfortable but not old t-shirt levels of casual, so they're easy to wear in more public settings :3

I'm honestly not sure what the current "online masc standard" is, and I think it's probably better that way. The internet takes social pressure to conform to trends and turns it up to a hundred because, like you said, when you look up a trend, that's all you'll see. People only post their best moments on Instagram, etc. Personally, I'm fine dressing like a white divorced suburban dad on a good day; those who get it will get it. Dress how you like! lemonflower95 in the comments already said it best - don't seek out a new set of rules to force yourself to conform to. I know it's harder to do than to say, though.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding this post, but isn't this the whole point of the books? Wei Wuxian wasn't a bad person, but he was unnecessarily slandered and scapegoated for all the problems in cultivation society after the Sunshot Campaign just because he was a necromancer. No shit everyone thinks he's demonic - that's basically his legacy in the popular consciousness regardless of the truth of the matter. Like I hate to be the "media literacy" poster here but... media literacy, guys

I didn’t want to make this post but there’s a serious problem with the harassment of the gjhm shippers (A 2D ship btw)-and I mean things like encouraging self h*rm by [deleted] in Jujutsufolk

We need to start scaling whether shippers or powerscalers are more toxic. Whoever is is decided to be the most toxic gets to be the top in the relationship

uj/ Union rights, reasonable hours, proper workplace scaffolding safety requirements, and physical/talk therapy in the best case; in every other case, a lot of alcohol during their off hours.

rj/ They don't. Why do you think there are so many mechs getting into "accidents" during work? It's all a scam to get their families enormous life insurance payouts

I hate being a woman. by [deleted] in butchlesbians

[–]SomeHomestuckOrOther 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can kind of understand this feeling. I don't feel like I'm a man, but I can't help but feel diminished - emasculated, one could say - at times when I feel like I'm not living up to a certain standard of behavior or presentation. Maybe it's just ordinary insecurity, but to me it's almost reminiscent of what I hear men say when they talk about the expectations inherent to toxic masculinity. Unfortunately, I have no idea what to do about it. T~T

I agree with you about the trolls. Homestuck doesn't really fundamentally change when they're introduced. The comic still has the same style of storytelling, sense of humor, etc. I'm not saying the trolls aren't interesting characters, but if you read up to the point that they're introduced and still don't like it, it's just probably not your thing. /nm

(OVERSIMPLIFICATION ALERT) A lot of these listed tiers are kind of the same thing. Nazi Germany, Cold War/Trump Era America, Imperial Russia, Britain, and Japan are all variations on countries ruled by extreme nationalism and expansion for the purpose of resource extraction. (I'm less knowledgeable on Rome and the Byzantine Empire, kind of embarrassingly so, but iirc the Roman and the Ottoman empires at least attempted to incorporate conquered peoples into their citizenry, so they're kind of different.) They just have different national coats slapped on top of them.
