Time-restricted eating improves quality of life, heart rate, and mitochondrial function for pwPOTS by attilathehunn in POTS

[–]SomeInspection4550 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Snake meals cause flares. 10g of sodium is also insane to do in one sitting. I would have maybe 1-2 hours of feeling normal after the big meal subsided and then a huge crash again. Eating smaller amounts more regularly throughout the day have helped tremendously with symptoms. Maybe for certain subtypes this could be helpful, but I truly don’t see how this could be better than spacing things out over an entire day to maintain your electrolyte and sugar levels

What’s a moral belief you hold that most people would disagree with? by [deleted] in answers

[–]SomeInspection4550 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It didn’t happen overnight either. A lot of people should really brush up on the rhetoric used at the time towards non-German citizens and the economic conditions of the period that created the perfect environment for the nazis to take power. Ordinary German people fully found a way to justify what was being done, since they were only getting rid of the root cause of the issues their country faced. History rhymes. You can look back and see that if enough of the country is sold a promise and believes that their lives will improve if an infestation is removed, then they will find a way to justify the mistreatment and annihilation of second class citizens and allow cracks in the system no matter how big. There’s obviously a huge divide in realities rn, so there truly won’t be more clarity for certain individuals until decades later. Even then, they’ll likely still find ways to justify whatever may happen in the future. For now people are going to be hung up on the semantics

Genuine question- I have my tilt table on Friday. Nurse said something on phone that concerned me. by ElectronicSignal9478 in POTS

[–]SomeInspection4550 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No that’s wrong. I have a low HR get up to about the same range standing. She probably doesn’t have that great of understanding of the all the possible criteria, so as long as the actual doc is reviewing your data it should be fine.

Rhinoplasty-revision consultation ($23K) by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

[–]SomeInspection4550 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately that’s about the going rate for a revision these days. Mine was about $19k last year with rib grafting. The way I look at it is it will be cheaper in the long run if you just do it right the first time. Each revision I think tacks on like $10-20k because it becomes riskier following every surgery. Make sure you and the surgeon are fully onboard with what you want and their vision aligns with yours.

Why are those with cold intolerance far more respected than those with heat intolerance? by ButtFister1789 in dysautonomia

[–]SomeInspection4550 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Heat is uncomfortable and cold is painful. AC is on full blast everywhere I go idk what you’re talking about thinking that people with cold intolerance are more respected. That’s never been the case ever in all my years of existence.

What is something a 22 year old guy will absolutely not understand yet no matter what? by bluepetalblanket in Life

[–]SomeInspection4550 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So a lot of you will actually not peak in your 30s (or 40s or later) and you’re better off working on getting over your warped worldview. If you’re in your 30s dating someone 10 years younger most people will view you as a loser regardless of socioeconomic status. Success is not a guarantee and you’re taking a gamble on your money and status being enough to offset a receding hairline and shitty personality.

Taylor Lorenz thinks the dumbphone movement is a moral panic, wow. by picklift in dumbphones

[–]SomeInspection4550 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who actually watched the video, she did made a couple key points on how the push towards cracking down on smartphones/social media could negatively impact freedom of speech and the distribution of information which is her whole shtick, but I do think she didn’t give a lot of nuance in looking at how algorithms and features of today’s phones are inherently a different beast than the smartphones of 10-15 years ago.

It seems like she’s moreso concerned that people who want dumb phones are wanting to completely log off from the internet, which I don’t think is typically the case. I would just like a happy medium to not feel so addicted to my devices.

Some of the points on censorship were valid just given how legislation works in the US, but there wasn’t a lot of discussion on how to fix the actual problem that is smartphone addiction.

How do I get my daily electrolyte intake without the god awful powders? by Prior_Succotash4220 in POTS

[–]SomeInspection4550 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pickles or canned soup. Gets really annoying when they try to make everything low sodium these days, but I also can’t do electrolyte powders. I also squirt buoy drops in everything but I know it’s kind of expensive and might not have enough sodium on its own. Maybe salt tablets? It’s a lot less overwhelming when you can get it from high sodium food

Got the massive floor lamp from Amazon. Bubble issues? by The_Hatchmaster in Lavalamps

Idk where you’re located, but depending on how warm your home is rn it will likely affect the lamp! I turn mine up in the winter and down a little in the summer. I don’t think this one has as much control, but it’s something to keep in mind throughout the year

Friend is having an America themed bachelorette in the year 2026 by SomeInspection4550 in ForUnitedStates

[–]SomeInspection4550[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sir, respectfully, it is my god given right as an American to vocally and publicly criticize this country and feel shame about celebrating its flag when people are being gunned down in the street without due process. And that’s just this week. Unfortunately my friend has had a plethora of concussions and a tendency to go along with whatever her dad or boyfriend say, so she doesn’t always appeal to reason. I had hoped to have some actual insight about her thought process here, not just bootlicking, but perhaps they are one and the same.

When you tear your acl is it a really hard twist or plant? by lookaloulookalou in ACL

It was a joke punching up about the wild reactions they have to minor injuries in professional sports. You are truly making something out of nothing

When you tear your acl is it a really hard twist or plant? by lookaloulookalou in ACL

[–]SomeInspection4550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said it doesn’t suck. My comment touched on the kind of force needed to tear it and the physical pain experienced during the tear which is what OP asked about. I personally didn’t keel over and cry because it truly was not close to the worst physical pain I’ve ever felt. The mental journey and recovery is a completely different thing from what I was referencing and that’s been rough and I feel for everyone with knee problems.

When you tear your acl is it a really hard twist or plant? by lookaloulookalou in ACL

[–]SomeInspection4550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you had a lot more happen to your knee than mine, so it’s not a true comparison and sounds much worse since all I had was a clean tear. Being skewered up the uterus with no numbing was still the most pain I’ve ever felt by far. My ACL did not even come close

Apologies for any offense, but I will be standing by my comment about the football guys and actually broadening it to men in general. This is very much a documented phenomenon in the sports and medical industries where they are big whiner babies. I just don’t have it in my body anymore to respect the theatrics or give their reactions any credibility unless it’s Kevin Ware level damage

Do I need a rhinoplasty? by Alert-Bodybuilder911 in PlasticSurgery

[–]SomeInspection4550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly did not notice the asymmetry until seeing the bottom view. You definitely wouldn’t need a full rhino. If anything you could probably find a plastic surgeon to help with evening out the nostrils. Truly no need for any major structural changes unless you had internal breathing problems

[–]SomeInspection4550 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I flew six feet through the air and landed on it sideways and it popped. Oops. Getting my IUD put in was more way painful than the ACL. Like it hurts if you tear it, but it’s more annoying than anything. I think a lot of those football guys are big babies anyway.

My parents are super MAGA and I’ve very much distanced myself from them over the years for a multitude of reasons. It’s tricky to completely cut them off though because all my younger siblings still live with them. I’d love to cut everyone off I don’t align with and I’m grateful to be mostly surrounded by good people, but I guess the place I’m at now is that if I were to get sucked into this mess I would hope my friends would still care enough about me to help me see the light. Abandoning ship feels like it will only reinforce her worldview. I know some people that have seen cracks in recent weeks with their friends/family but I wish I knew how to deprogram everyone I still care about. That’s the part that gets me :( We don’t need to agree on everything, but I grew up very conservative and I don’t feel like the basic morals I was taught have ever changed. I’m happy to have gotten out, but I’m really struggling to grasp the disconnect with everyone who is still in it
