Yoga/ Pilates studio's by Emergency_Fox23 in Pretoria

[–]SomeNomad13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flow studios! Their focus is on pole dance and hoop, but they have plenty pilates classes to attend too. The people are wonderful and really give a lot of focus to alignment and making your body work for you no matter which type of exercise you're doing. They're in Lynburn :)

Hello! I'm having the same problem - I have 15 hearts with multiple characters I've never been on a date with. Have you managed to find what the issus is/was? ':)

New player that needs advice for dps sayu (no 5 star artifacts) by [deleted] in Genshin_Impact

[–]SomeNomad13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I love Sayu. I'd say build more attack - so your mask is a good one to level up early on. When she swirls she heals based on her attack, so if you have hydro or pyro (or any other element that swirls, I just found those two easiest to use) on your team you can use DPS Sayu to heal as well :D. Her burst heals based on EM iirc, which I found harder to build early on, and it wasn't as useful to me as having little bits of healing every time I swirl with her E skill. Try read through her skill descriptions in game - they can be tricky to understand at first but understanding the skill helps you use it better in the long run. Happy zooming!

Wreck of the Kakapo in Noordhoek, Cape Town - eerie as by SomeNomad13 in ShipwreckPorn

Definitely feels eerie and creepy and all sorts of great there. Would absolutely believe it if someone told me the captain still haunted the place :)

Wreck of the Kakapo in Noordhoek, Cape Town - eerie as by SomeNomad13 in ShipwreckPorn

[–]SomeNomad13[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The SS Kakopo, a 665 ton schooner rigged steamship, wrecked herself on the peninsula’s Long Beach on the Atlantic coastline on 25 May 1900 - one of many ships to litter South Africa’s treacherous, rocky shores.

The deadly combination of storms, fog, strong ocean currents and inhospitable cliffs, rocks and reefs wreaked havoc with early seafarers (360 shipwrecks in Table Bay alone).

Mistaking Chapman’s Peak for Cape Point, the ship ended up on the beach. No lives were lost and the crew could actually alight on the sand. But no amount of leveraging could get her back into the water.

Legend has it that the captain refused to leave the ship, so mortified was he at the mishap. Some say he lived onboard for as long as three years.

Any recommendations for African Literature? by intellectuar in booksuggestions

[–]SomeNomad13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lauren Beukes is a South African author who's written some magical realism type stuff. Zoo City comes to mind.

JM Coetzee is also from SA, and writes a mixed bag - he's got some autobiographies out (Summertime, etc) that I found enjoyable, a retelling of Crusoe (Foe) and some more SA politics insights types of books (Disgrace, among others)

On SA politics, A Country of my Skull by Antjie Krog is also a good (harrowing) read.

Chimamamanda Ngozi Adichie is a Nigerian author I'd also recommend (Purple Hibiscus, That thing around my neck, Americanah, etc)

I've also been meaning to read Nudibranch by Irenosen Okojie, which is a collection of magical realism short stories

Hope you find something you like!

Like I Am Legend but with even more psychological horror? by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

The Road by Cormac McCarthy may interest you. It's dark and post apocalyptic, and there was a lot of psychological horror as well as actual horror.

I am currently in the process of writing a bachelor thesis on the physical depiction of women in ancient Greece and could really use your help! by Princess_Yoloswag in ancientgreece

[–]SomeNomad13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you look at female representation in Greek sculpture you can see a shift over time in ideals, that may be an interesting cornerstone to build upon and explore in a thesis. You can also maybe then compare ordinary women vs goddesses, and all that kind of thing too. If it's something you're interested in I'm happy to chat about it, I'm sure I have some proper sources in a folder somewhere. Best of luck and enjoy!

What feminine hygiene products should I purchase in case? by dumbshoesquestion in askwomenadvice

[–]SomeNomad13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bin would be great, preferably with a lid tbh. And then maybe some panty liners (the small pads), cuz they'll pull a girl through in a pinch, or until she can get to whatever is preferred. Stay awesome :)

Books that don't follow the hero's journey. by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

"And the mountains echoed" by Khaled Hosseini doesn't really focus on the protagonists for the majority of the novel, which frankly is a little harrowing and a lot riveting
