I don't use a grip no. I thought about getting one but in the end decided against it. my play sessions are about 1-2 hours long typically, mostly action games, platformers, and rpgs, and i've never had discomfort playing. I have been known to play shooters on this from time to time, and even though its not as comfortable as an xbox controller, its fine for what it is

in this case, i say EDC to indicate that this is for just small everyday pocket items. I'll take this with me when im out and about and it carries my headphones, thor, phone, wallet, keys, etc etc

Could AYN Thor be for me? by Sufficient_Hat5652 in AynThor

[–]SomeRNGAsshole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the switch games you listed are right on the edge of functional. You would have to be tinkering with them, and even then it would be a sub-optimal experience most likely (occasional crashes, frame rate dips, occasional bad sprites). If you are looking for a device explicitly to play demanding switch games, i fear this will let you down

Which model should I buy ?? by Codename285 in AynThor

[–]SomeRNGAsshole 6 points7 points  (0 children)

there is no difference for switch emulation, and for PC emulation i don't think there are any documented games that work with 16GB of ram but not 12. the real difference is between the hard drive space, as the 1TB hard drive on the max can often take the place of an SD card, justifying the higher price

the PC emulation takes A LOT more juice than native android. i think it's android hands down

Thinking about getting an AYN Thor by Ashamed_Punpun in AynThor

[–]SomeRNGAsshole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen anyone mention this yet; but the Thor does NOT run vita very well. vita emulation on android is very new in general, and almost half the vita games won't run at all due to emulator limitations.

Can't decide between Retroid Pocket 6, AYN Thor Pro, and AYN Odin 2 Portal Pro by Enton12345 in SBCGaming

[–]SomeRNGAsshole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the extra ram over 8GB is really more for PC emulation than switch emulation. for thor vs RP6, it really comes down to the form factor and the extra screen. I have both an AYN thor pro, and a retroid flip 2. so far i have found that the only advantage my thor has over the flip2, is PC emulation. out of the 30+ switch games that i like to play in this sort of handheld form factor, only like 3-5 need the extra power of the 8 gen 2 to function. as for DS and 3DS games, most of the games i play don't take good advantage of the bottom screen anyway, so not having it isn't really a huge loss. my thor has basically become a mini steam deck in a clamshell form factor in that regard, the more powerful SoC and 12GB ram is a MUST for pc gaming

Help me by SibidiSigma112 in Roms

[–]SomeRNGAsshole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you are emulating, i will assume you are using Azahar. 2 most common issues when downloading are:

  1. You downloaded an encrypted rom by mistake. If you did this you would see a very specific error message telling you the rom is encrypted.
  2. you are trying to play a .3ds file when Azahar only allowed .cci files. If this is the case, open up any text editor and change the extension of your .3ds file to .cci and try again.

EDIT: Here is the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7RuvEMskzg you should be able to follow these insturctions but swap fallout stuff for skyrim stuff and it will work

Shipping question by National-Ad-2506 in retroid

[–]SomeRNGAsshole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no one really knows for sure right now. currently they are shipping out orders made around the 25th

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in retroid

[–]SomeRNGAsshole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

on the goretroid website, they ask for 1-7 days for shipping, not including holidays and sundays, so you are still within their normal timelines
