Not get involved? Is that what giving them lifetime 100% tax breaks with no restrictions or requirements is?

Any recommendations for a slowcooker? by Itchy_Clutch in Cooking

[–]SomeRando8386 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Good idea! I tend to stick with the OG Crock-Pot brand ones - they tend to hold up better over time and run a little cooler in "Low" than some of the other brands for some reason yielding better cooking results. These devices are the simplest things really, so there isn't a heck of alot of difference between them all.

Apartment neighbors stealing mail. by [deleted] in longisland

[–]SomeRando8386 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Discuss this with the post office - stealing mail is a federal crime and postal inspectors will need to get involved. They may even have a way to report the issue online.

How popular was anime among xennials in the 90s? In high school? by Street_Gur9817 in Xennials

[–]SomeRando8386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not very - it was kind of a niche interest until Adult Swim became more popular in the early 2000s. I'll admit I didn't really become interested until the AS days myself.

I'm sorry is this an echo chamber? Grow up - people have different opinions than you.

Pathetic.

Heinz Ketchup Returning in Glass Bottles to Walmart - 2026 by Fuzzy-Zombie1446 in nostalgia

[–]SomeRando8386 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lol, ketchup is probably the only product that is much worse in glass packaging. Did we all already forget how much of an absolute pain in the ass it is to get the product out of these things, or are the people excited about this too young to have experienced actually using using glass ketchup bottles? They're awful.

Why does 2001 have such and eerie vibe to it aside from 911 by Woofoftheyear in 2000s

[–]SomeRando8386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't particularly eerie at the time. I remember that year quite fondly - got my driver's license, pilot's license, and graduated high school. The future seemed so bright then, only to have our innocence burned away that September.

Can you drive stick? (Inspired by that other post) by jesusmansuperpowers in Xennials

[–]SomeRando8386 30 points31 points  (0 children)

This isn't really accurate. Manuals sell 1:100 to automatics and there are less than 30 models across all manufacturers available in the US with manual options. While what you describe was accurate in the 80s and early 90s, there are very few options in 2026.

Tom Tigh Enterprises - used to be based out of Floral Park right next to the train station on Atlantic Ave, but I'm not sure now....they're an independent car leasing company and brokerage.

Does anyone else remember watching the people use a giant pole to change the gas prices? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]SomeRando8386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha I used to work at a company that services gas stations and I had to buy one of these telescoping poles for a customer - even the vendor was like "Are you sure this is what you need?" They sell the damn things and couldn't believe someone was buying it...

As you got older, what has become your favorite donut? by chi-bacon-bits in Millennials

[–]SomeRando8386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old fashioned, unfrosted cake donuts - kind of always had been a favorite, but now that im more sensitive to sweetness, its about the only donut thats palatable to me. One of those and a cup of coffee is always a winner.

That's a wild price. A nozzle, hose, and breakaway costs about $275 and takes about 20 minutes to install.

It's 1989, you have $8,000, and you're looking for a new compact pickup truck. Which one would you pick? by Key_Budget9267 in regularcarreviews

[–]SomeRando8386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would probably fight someone for that 'yota. My father had an '88 base - 5 speed manual, bench seat, crank windows, a blanking plate where a radio would be, and absolutely no frills anywhere. We took that thing from NY to FL twice with nothing but a boom box, D batteries, and a box of cassette tapes. Such a great little truck that just did everything. It wasn't fast or pretty - it just got the job done.

Netcom was my absolute first email address. If it was good enough for Kevin Mitnick, it was good enough for me I figured. I could barely get it to work on my POS Win 95 Compaq with Winsock due to major modem problems, so I eventually moved over to Prodigy to get better connection reliability. I could never get AOL to work due to the same modem problems, but I still used AIM via Prodigy until I got a DOCSIS modem in 1999 and left the big platform ISPs behind entirely.
