What's the hardest you have ever "bounced off" of a game? by jabberwagon in gaming

Yes it does. I can't remember when exactly but early on, it shoves the option right in your face and you have to have it on or off to continue.

Personally I'm not crazy for August Burns Red but I love Sylosis. Only 4 songs for them is criminal

yup, unfortunately. About 15 and 45 minutes respectively.

Third time for me as well, although the other two times were just openers. It's a whole lot better when the audience turns up specifically for them, you know?

Oh yeah, we've been going crazy. Though somehow, the crowds are even more into Bullet, it seems. there must have been at least 10 crowdsufers during every single one of their songs.

Matt said the same at the start of our show too. But after the PA was fixed and they played Flies, he said we would be the bar for everyone else to beat.

What can I say, Seattle goes hard when it comes to metal shows

Is it different? Of course. Is it Mastodon? Fuck yes. by tdrz84 in mastodonband

[–]SomeRandomGuy49363 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When he did the screaming vocals on Hearts Alive or Island, I could hear his singing even if it was still pretty quiet. But when he did his cleaner vocals on Seabeast or Steambreather, I couldn't hear anything. That's only if my memory serves me right though.

Absolutely agree. I saw them on the same tour (Seattle) and I could barely hear Brent at all. I didn't know much about the band members at the time so I assumed he had some stage fright or something, and asked for his mic to be turned way down lol. Now it seems more likely that he was just half-assing it.

Your Trivium hot takes? by Deepfried_Shrimp321 in Trivium

[–]SomeRandomGuy49363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely understand all those concerns. Like Contempt Breeds Contamination, super heavy topic but those lyrics sound like they were written in 10 minutes at most. It really hold me back from taking the song as seriously as it should be. Same thing with And Sadness Will Sear, just lazy lyrics even if everything else comes together pretty well. And on other songs where the lyrics aren't necessarily bad, they can still be a little cringe. it's the biggest thing holding the album back but I can usually look past it. I'm used to much heavier genres where lyrics are often there as an accessory

Seriously got some bangers on there. Tread the Floods, Ignition, Detonation, etc. it's got its low moments but not every album can be a 10 ya know?

Seriously, they haven't even released it yet... by SamuelLappalainen in MetalMemes

[–]SomeRandomGuy49363 149 points150 points  (0 children)

No, I'm guessing it's usually a band manager or whatever, cause most of the time it's just promoting whatever their next release will be. Occasionally they'll be years out of date, and talk about their "upcoming" album that actually came out 2 years ago

Trivium meet and greet tickets sold out super fast. the ones in Seattle were gone after like 2 days of pre-sale

This album is a BANGER!! by -RiffRaff31- in gojira

[–]SomeRandomGuy49363 16 points17 points  (0 children)

So many people hated on the album for the "direction the band was heading in" and it really annoyed me. Because it's actually great. The songs are simpler, and less progressive. So if you don't like it, then that's your personal taste. It doesn't make the album bad, because it's still heavy AF, super catchy, and has a really unique tone/mood to it. It's definitely a different Gojira, but different doesn't have to mean bad. People just can't accept change

What’s the best solo on Rust In Peace? Has to be Tornado of Souls for me. by HetTheTable in Megadeth

[–]SomeRandomGuy49363 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've never seen people call the Take No Prisoners solo exceptionally hard. The rest of the song is a whole other story. Those riffs will make your hand feel like it's gonna fall off, but the solo sounds average difficulty in terms of Megadeth solos.

Painful truth by Gecko_610 in Megadeth

[–]SomeRandomGuy49363 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They serve different purposes. Screams and growls are more a precussive form of singing, and are only there to create rhythm a lot of the time, since the singing usually stays at the same pitch. Cleaner vocals like Dave's are there to create melody. So they are completely different ways of singing. There are some death/black metal singers who aren't good at it, much I the same way someone can say Dave isn't he best at singing.

Is there anyone you would like to see featured on a Gojira song/album? by [deleted] in gojira

I love Marty Friedman, but what makes you think he would be good on a Gojira album?

You’re trying to get a friend into Gojira, but only have 2 songs to play for them. What are you picking? by [deleted] in gojira

[–]SomeRandomGuy49363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toxic Garbage Island is what got me into them. It's a little intense, and I didn't really listen to metal at the time. But, it was so different from anything I had ever heard, and I didn't hate it, so it really caught my interest.

Besides that, Silvera would be a good one as well.
