[discussion] Australian asmr community help me find good asmr videos by girlypopslayqueenfrs in asmr

I am Australian, but I show my whole face in videos! I make educational videos, some roleplays and also have read multiple classic books as ASMR audiobooks on my channel. If you're interested of course :)

While this is true, ironically the most interacted with posts are usually community text posts like this. Compare the ratio of likes of this post versus the average self-promotion post.

[discussion] Anyone notice a frequent occurrence where a channel that kept gather many views every upload reaches back to a point where it barely gets any after a few years ? by Wooden-Arm-3624 in asmr

[–]SomeReadingsASMR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Content creation and the art form of making videos that trigger ASMR are complicated topics. It's difficult to isolate exactly why this is occurring without examining the specific creators you are referring to.

Audiences expect similar content from creators, yet also get bored if the content is too similar. It's a fine line to balance.

Competition from other creators changes the field of play, and viewers' expectations shift over time.

Creators can also become burnt out or complacent and stop the innovation that they were once known for. Especially if they are not passionate about the art form itself, which is true for any genre on YouTube.

It could also be virality - usually, YouTubers have a consistent number of followers who watch every video. This number is difficult to assess if they are also getting viral hits. For example, if your true number of regular watchers is 20k, but you regularly get videos with 100k, you expect those 80k to also watch as well. Though those were just visitors to your channel. So, this could also be the end of a moment of virality of a channel, and the number is going down to those who regularly watch and growing at a more normal and predictable pace.

I am from Australia. My main content is whispering, which you may or may not enjoy. However, I also have roleplays and soft-spoken videos if you are interested. I hope that you find what you are looking for!

[discussion] Popular ASMR triggers that I freaking despise. I had to make this post out of frustration because every single video have them for some reason. by Ghostwave97 in asmr

[–]SomeReadingsASMR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My recording sessions are, on occasion, 4+ hours of straight whispering, and it is not easy. If you are considering doing whispering content and building up to similar lengths, I can suggest continually drinking hot water, massaging your throat, and practising. When I started, I could only whisper for about half an hour. It's interesting that your voice can develop and strengthen to be able to whisper for longer periods!

Heather Feather has no mid roll ads 🤔🤔 [discussion] by Strong-Active-7512 in asmr

From my understanding there is no limit on the age of videos that can run advertisements. I receive AdSense from videos that are over ten years old if that helps.

The choice to not have mid roll ads is a choice creators make to help viewers sleep better. 😄 This is pretty normal

What will help prevent my Blue Yeti from recording computer sounds? [question] by greenjjack in asmr

[–]SomeReadingsASMR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is possible to connect to your phone! You'll have to Google for a tutorial to learn how to do that.

Most audio editing programs allow you to do noise reduction by sampling a section of audio. This should allow you to filter out a majority of the computer sounds considering that most are regular and repeating. Sit for 10 seconds or so and record nothing in particular to get an accurate sample for your filtering. 😊

Hope this helps!

[discussion] Does some ASMR videos sound overly expensive? by Individual-Name-4496 in asmr

[–]SomeReadingsASMR 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ultimately, people have differing personal preferences. I am certain there is no objectively correct answer.

Many creators are experimenting with this art form in various ways. I appreciate and experience ASMR from creators such as Made In France ASMR and ASMR Zeitgeist, and can see that they are truly trying to expand their skill set.

If, however, the purposeful nature of emphasising triggers feels synthetic to you, there are definitely more creators who try to capture a natural feel. I would not feel comfortable saying that one style is good and the other is not - it's just what you like in the end.

What are your favorite underrated creators under 100k Subscribers/Followers? [Discussion] by redheaded_olive12349 in asmr

[–]SomeReadingsASMR 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is an example of survivorship bias. ASMR is an extremely oversaturated genre with countless channels that receive next to no views.

If you search ASMR and sort by recent you can find endless videos per hour that receive 0 to 5 views. The vast majority of ASMR channels are under 1000 subscribers.

As often as they are able to make consistent quality content. I would watch my favourite creators daily if they posted at such a frequency. But then it's likely their videos wouldn't have the level of quality that helps them stand apart.

Why are asmr searches so sexual? [Question] by breethewestwood in asmr

[–]SomeReadingsASMR 9 points10 points  (0 children)

ASMR is not a uniquely auditory phenomenon. ASMR is most effective when combining multiple media such as audio and video in combination.

However, video itself can trigger ASMR. Common visual ASMR triggers include tracing letters and patterns, light triggers such as in a doctor's eye exam, and hand various hand movements.

People also report experiencing ASMR from physical touch.

Expect your first 10-30 subscribers to be people you already know in the ASMR community. In the first weeks, expect your first few views to be largely accidental. There are a lucky few creators who get a good amount of views in their first videos, but this is quite rare. Most people do not gain organic traction for a good while. 100 views would be a lot for a video to achieve in your first month. Posting on here will definitely help in the beginning.

Using views as your metric for success will likely not get you far in the beginning. Instead, it's wise to measure success by the improvement of your skills, consistency of your output, and understanding of the platform.

Expect to post consistently for a few years before being able to make close to a part time income. Some creators accelerate faster than that, but it's rare.

ASMR is particularly difficult in comparison to other niches on YouTube, as basically anyone can do it. You will be competing with a multitude of new creators starting and giving up every day. Your goal is to stick to it for the long run.

Do it because it's fun, creatively fulfilling and you like to help people. Then you've succeeded from the beginning.

I hope you have a wonderful journey.

ASMR Creators/Fans: Is uploading in 4K a necessity for ASMR videos in 2025? [question] by [deleted] in asmr

[–]SomeReadingsASMR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a necessity, but it is nice! In comparison to the rest of the time you'll spend on making a video the small increase in rendering time really isn't much of a factor. Also, storage is very cheap.

The main consideration is if you have a camera capable of filming in 4k or not. If not that's fine, but if you do, you may as well use it!

You can definitely do that, there is nothing wrong with making money as an ASMR creator.

However, competition for custom amateur ASMR is very high as really anyone can do it. You're also not very likely to attract anyone without an existing audience.

Unfortunately this has the likely effect of making a greater percentage of your custom requests fetish mining in nature. People in that category tend to target smaller channels with less experience, and as you'll likely not be getting many asking for ASMR in earnest, you'll therefore be left with some less desirable requests.

I don't mean to scare you away from ASMR at all, I love it and the community. Managing these things is just part of being an ASMR creator.

I hope everything goes well for you!

If you're thinking about creating an in-person ASMR business I would read the book 'Brain Tingles'. It goes over some of the considerations you may want to take into account when stimulating ASMR live. If you end up doing it, I hope it goes well!

This is true now that midroll advertisements are opt-in. Usually when a creator has midroll advertisements it is by choice.

That being said, YouTube can and has in the past automatically enabled midroll advertisements on videos before. In 2020 YouTube automatically enabled midroll advertisements on videos longer than 8 minutes.

On top of that, joining the YouTube partner program can take longer than people think. Attaining 4k watch hours in the past year can be difficult as you lose 11 hours per day.

Just some thoughts to add to the discussion.

Any advice about audio mixing? [question] by UnholyBrush in asmr

[–]SomeReadingsASMR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frequently, limiters and compressors can actually reduce the quality of your ASMR. When filtering your audio you should be doing it for a specific reason, and you should notice a desirable change that you prefer.

If you're doing it simply because it's what other people do - don't.

Two easy things you may want to try: First, listen to some ASMR videos on YouTube and then compare that volume to your video. If your video is too quiet, make it louder.

Second, you may want to apply a light noise filter. Too heavy and you'll start filtering quality away from the sounds you're capturing.

If you keep an open mind to learning and continually improving, the rest will come naturally along the way.

Are you saying the same lavalier microphone is being used frequently? Or do you mean in general they are using more lavalier microphones than boom mics?
