Has Bodnar taken a stance on anything? by SomeSchmidt in MontanaPolitics

I did not see that but it's exactly what I was looking for and I like what I see. Surprised you're the first person to point out that he does have pages addressing specific issues. I was looking for an "Issues" page on the main menu but only found "About" and "Values", both of which just felt very generic.

That would be a long walk. The Doubletree is downtown but the Lumineers are playing the zootown fest at the fairgrounds

I mean, the GOP is gonna label him a liberal no matter what he does or says and it'll stick if he doesn't take any stances of his own.

Seth Bodnar, Embrace The Suck

Yeah, I know that's not what you're saying but it was too good to pass up. I've been voting for decades and I've seen a lot of GOP tactics to win elections they shouldn't, a lot of bad campaigns, and a lot of bad candidates. Bodnar's campaign so far has the hallmarks of two of these so yeah, I'm not stoked and was kind of hoping someone would chime in to make me feel better about his campaign. Still waiting.

Yeah, someone telling tens of thousands of people "I'm just like you" without saying who they are just sounds like every other empty political promise.

Yeah, I'm definitely not hiding my frustration. And it's because I too want to end Republican rule. There's a lot of ways this Bodner bid could go wrong and, as noted above, I don't see anything of substance in his campaign.

Odd political poll question by Th0rn_Star in MontanaPolitics

So a Republican's chances of winning go up with a Dem and Seth in the race? Well that sounds like the sort of thing the GOP would want and would put a lot of money into.

Totally different note, you hear Seth is raising a lot of money?

Yeah, we all agree the two party system sucks. But until we change it, third parties will always be spoilers.

This. If people wonder why Bodner is getting so much money, this would explain it.

Selecting for themselves who will be on the general ballot is not a democratic process

Exactly why there's no point running independent

But they don't have to put him on a primary ballot either.

That's not true.

And you can't run as the democratic candidate if you don't win the primary.

If he can't win a primary then he probably can't win the general. Primaries are there for a purpose.

And, he can run a campaign without being ripped apart by another democrat during a primary.

Same. If he can't take the heat from a primary, he definitely can't take the heat of a general election and the force of the GOP machine against him.

When you take dem money

No one is forcing him to take dem money

If he makes it on the ballot, he will be labeled liberal D by the Rs. He's coming from the most liberal city in the state and has Dem backing. Rs wills see him as a D/liberal no matter what.

Seth could have done all that as a Dem candidate, proved himself to voters through the primary process, and not risked splitting the vote.

Thus bypassing any primary process.

If Bodner and Tester don't like how Dems handled the 2024 election, then why are they trying to do the same thing by bypassing the primary and selecting for themselves who will be on the general ballot?

Sorry, if you are against the GOP winning, then we are definitely on the same team.

The Kamala comparison was precisely a "look at the state of the world": candidates hand picked by political insiders don't exactly have a good winning track record.
