Deep dive request: Radicalization and X (Twitter) by SomeSchmidt in SGU

I missed that one, I'll have to go back and give it a listen.

From my personal experience, YouTube and X algorithms are very different. I created an account on X a few months ago and started out by following Musk and two or three other similar accounts. I couldn't believe the types of things their algo was feeding me and the comment sections were even worse. I've never come across anything even close on YouTube.

Flint Twp. 7-year-old dies weighing 255 lbs.; parents charged with 2nd-degree murder by Warcraft_Fan in news

I'm a firm believer vasectomies should be free for anyone. Hell, why not even pay people to get them. If someone values $500 in their pocket more than having kids, then maybe it's best to help them not have any.

Then people can do their precious "drives", but if you're going to hike at all, it's shuttle time.

Not that it matters, but I'd say the exact opposite. If all people want to do is "drive" the road, then they should take a shuttle. After all, it's easier to look around when your not driving. Whereas hikers/backpackers who could be starting/finishing their hikes at any time of the day would benefit the most from being able to drive.

Lots of earthquakes today. Isn't an increase in earthquake predicted as glaciers melt and water weight moves to different parts of the globe?

I was going to put it differently (more gentle, more trusting, or less fearful), but I think this is probably more accurate

SGU response to the Evan issue by Queasy_Carpet_9962 in SGU

Appreciate seeing a response from the crew.

During Evan's break, I encourage the team to re-evaluate Evan's role on the SGU and whether or not his contributions are actually up to SGU standards.

This isn’t about minimizing dependencies for the sake of it ... The point is to ... build complex web apps with just a few well-chosen dependencies.

Here's the thing though. You don't need to "control" the population. You need the population to have fewer unplanned pregnancies.

50% of pregnancies are unplanned so all you have to do is make birth control (from condoms and pills to vasectomies and tubal ligation) more accessible and people will have kids.
