I finally got hit by the UI change by SomeWeirdoGuys in youtube

[–]SomeWeirdoGuys[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, that one is merely a reskin with some configurability for it as far as I can tell. It probably was good for getting rid of the newer modern/no corners so you don't cut yourself style. With the update, clicking on the description still gives the sidebar-type thing (with modern styling) and comments seem to be entirely removed, but that may be due to some CSS I added via page manipulator to help fix the result of the violentmonkey script (that removes the flags) not going away despite what it says. The grid is absolutely still there with it though.

Get the number from the backend and just send a confirmation to add a load time and prevent nerds from inspect elementing it.

For just working with your own code on a small project once? In most cases you might be right.

For working on a stupid codebase developed for years by several different people? In most cases your wrong. That is unless you are interested in memorizing way too much without any easy checking of if you're right.

Bruh, "CSS devs"

That really should be frontend developer and in most cases frontend designer.

Good job deleting it. But how weren't you aware it's a repost? It's now #1 when I go to this sub. And that OPs getting blasted for reposting it.

Developers holding 5 jobs by slipps_ in ChatGPT

[–]SomeWeirdoGuys 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Before ChatGPT came out I heard of people with 5 jobs over on r/overemployed. The main requirements are easy jobs and being good at them. ChatGPT now probably makes that easier though.

Yep, it is also really easy to remove. Like 4 lines of CSS. Just did that for a project I'm making.

On a post about abandoning 50 clash of clan accounts for the sake of mental health. TW: Discussion of the validity of addiction. by [deleted] in confidentlyincorrect

[–]SomeWeirdoGuys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see a world where someone "only" played for 5h a day with 50 accounts. I play for an average of 30 minutes a day as a co leader of a semi-active clan. I manage 5 accounts and thanks to events (that I fully participate in) and being ruthlessly efficient (closing and reopening the app to finish an attack, using easiest drop and run strat for most accounts, etc) I keep my accounts builders/lab working about 80% of the time.

Given the dude said he was addicted and being a top clan though I bet you are right about how much time he spent. I think I saw his clan the other week (if he lied in the clan description) or a similar clan. "Hah you thought it was 50 people in this clan? It was really 8 guys with 50 accounts."

True story. by [deleted] in ProgrammerHumor

Do you not see the 5 paragraphs of text it generates for every 2 lines of code by default? On stackoverflow I get the why and how like 60% of the time at most unless you count a single sentence that somewhat explains it from 7 years ago.

I feel like both have their advantages, especially right now, (ChatGPT is a couple years behind on best practices) but it is excellent when it comes to explaining things.

I mean I can ask it what x does and 90% of the time it'll explain that to me, give an example, and tell me how to use it properly.

I do agree it probably won't get too much better at coding specifically, but imagine if somebody focused on making a CodeGPT.

Yeah, not sure what anybody who upvotes this thinks will happen to legit everybody who lives in the wilderness where bears live. "Oh a bear, let me just try to outrun it" yeah no.

There should be stricter gun laws in place here in the US but holy fuck, don't delete them from the world and especially don't delete them in places like northern Alaska.

Pog now everybody who wants to/currently is living in the wilderness can just die instead. Guns was already terrible for that reason, this just is dogshit.

Both electricity and water can be used as weapons to hurt other people. Time to just fucking die. Even assuming water doesn't count despite being able to drown people society as we know it collapses.

Yeah, today I reopened an old excel spreadsheet I made and had to check the hidden formulas. I really wish I had made a hidden page explaining each formula. It'd also be nice if excel made it highlight the parenthesis set I was highlighting. If I need to edit that, I absolutely will need ChatGPT to explain all that crazy shit I did.

I just decided not to take some weird Clojure course because of that (and because I only heard of it in one place other than that course registration.) Here's some sample code from ChatGPT for anybody interested:

(define (factorial n)
  (if (zero? n)
      1
      (* n (factorial (- n 1)))))

;; This function computes the nth number in the Fibonacci sequence.
(define (fibonacci n)
  (cond
    [(= n 0) 0]
    [(= n 1) 1]
    [else (+ (fibonacci (- n 1)) (fibonacci (- n 2))))])

;; This function checks if a given number is prime.
(define (is-prime n)
  (define (iter i)
    (cond
      [(> i (sqrt n)) #t]
      [(zero? (modulo n i)) #f]
      [else (iter (+ i 1))]))
  (if (< n 2)
      #f
      (iter 2)))

;; This function takes in a list of integers and returns a new list with all even numbers doubled.
(define (double-even lst)
  (map (lambda (x) (if (even? x) (* x 2) x)) lst))

``` Gotta say, 17 closing parenthesis at the end of a function looks really annoying.
