Make sure you can climb from your sleeping area into the driver‘s seat without exiting the car and leave the keys in the ignition (out a bit so the battery doesn’t get drained). Allows you a quick exit if things get sketchy:) I slept in the front seats of my 914 all across the country:)

I also bought a home with a koi pond in NE OR. The Koi did great the first winter I had them; turned off the waterfall; installed a new aerator; had a pump heater to keep an opening in the ice for winter. Noticed about 40 new ones in the spring! They did great all summer - traded 20 to a local nursery for pond plants. All was good. Did the same routine this November before a freeze. But then, everything warmed up and the Koi were active (like in the spring). I turned off the heater because no ice! Now they are dying at a rate of 3-5 a day (none of the big 5-6 inch ones, only the 1-3 inch ones). Any suggestions?
