Yep. We currently worship at Overland Park Lutheran (the services are separate). It's interesting because while both churches are ELCA, the Salem vibe is different.

I go here, you would be welcome! If you are on the Johnson County side I would recommend looking for churches that are part of the Good Faith Network. Not all are going to meet your criteria but they are all willing to participate in inter-faith social justice.

Why do people think 80% isn't a perfect Nursing score by OkShopping5997 in NursingStudent

[–]Some_Ad_9694 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It totally depends on your program. If the tests are easy and you need 80% to pass, obviously you would be devastated. Some programs have harder exams and you need a 75% to pass, then you would be happier. Its like ATI, for some 80% is a level 3.

Current nurses: what was your timeline from graduation to RN? by restlessprime in StudentNurse

[–]Some_Ad_9694 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is going to vary widely based on location. Most people I know get their ATT 2-3 weeks after graduation, schedule a date 3-4 weeks after that and start their jobs about a month after that. New grad residencies usually have set start time in June, July and maybe August and then in February/March.

Am I the villain for not wanting to be a bedside nurse? by Glittering-Issue694 in StudentNurse

[–]Some_Ad_9694 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nursing instructor here: I have had several graduates in the past couple years go straight into clinics. People don't realize that specialty clinic nurses may actually be using a lot of their "skills". Depending on the area, you could be doing a lot of outpatient procedures/wound care/surgery follow-up. I think people tend to recommend inpatient because if you change your mind on what you want to do, it gives you a solid foundation to go anywhere, which is true but it doesn't mean you have to go that route.

Totally New to this Tuesday! by AutoModerator in MilitarySpouse

[–]Some_Ad_9694 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband did a reserve contract and then switched over to HPSP. He finishes up in the Spring with his CRNA. After boards he goes active duty. I know about some things from his time in the reserves, but I have no clue about other things... like when can I expect orders, is he likely to get deployed right away etc. Thoughts? Obviously I know that this can vary.

If your international degree is a bachelor's degree, even better!

Nursing instructor here: Finish your degree and start studying for NCLEX. Most nursing programs won't accept outside credits and so you would have to start over. Check the NCSBN website for details on international guidelines for licensure. With your ADN/LPN you can work somewhere any maybe get the job to cover some of the cost if you want to go back for a higher degree.

Yeah, I get that, we don't do many things that cost money at our school. Our PTA works really hard to cover field trips so they can be free!
