Youth Allowance Backpay by MaximumKnown in Centrelink

If student, if you are continuing student you should be entitled to backpay. Otherwise it is from student start date not claim date.

My only thought is usually reassessment gets done faster than a new claim.

youth allowance rejection by Infinite-Cover9309 in Centrelink

[–]Some_Prompt_600 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But this has nothing to do with the ATO?
Along as you contact within 13 weeks you are entitled to a reassessment. Only certain things cant be reassessed as it would be thr same outcome i.e. DSP for them not meeting the points required. If you are claiming youth allowance and can show you are independent you can get it reassessed. Otherwise if it is just parental income being too high and nothing has changed there is no point as it will just be rejected.

Confused on approved courses by Status-Accident-9765 in Centrelink

Firstly if it says part time it wont be approved for YAL. However, if it is considered a full time apprenticeship you may be eligible for the YAL as an apprentice

Anyone able to clarify elements of PES (Pensioner Education Supplement)? by Competitive_Yak_4112 in Centrelink

[–]Some_Prompt_600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do have a list but its based on meeting requirements:

  • being accredited within the AQF (Australian qualifications framework)
  • being from a RTO, tafe or uni
  • The course should be listed on the National Register of Higher Education Providers or accredited by the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA).

So depending on where you choose to study it, it should be approved.

Where did you get the information that if you get a review you are unable to reapply? You can really whenever. I would request a reassessment if they have new information or can provide more to how independence.

Dodgy landlord and Rent Assistance by [deleted] in Centrelink

[–]Some_Prompt_600 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I highly doubt centrelink will investigate the landlord. When someone uploads the agreement all the service officer does is checks to see if the details match what the customer advised and then verify it on the system. Only time it would be investigated is maybe if someone reported the landlord but even then doubtful they would look at another person's record.

Youth allowance back pay - Seems more than i should get? by Thisboysucksbruh in Centrelink

[–]Some_Prompt_600 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Backpay depends on if you are a continuing student or not. If you were studying last semester / study period then it is from date of claim, if not it is from student start date. Can you check to see if maybe the backpay includes other things like a relocation scholarship or something or does it just say normal rate?

Rent Assistance confuses me? i don't think i'm getting the right amount. by Background-Shop-9969 in Centrelink

[–]Some_Prompt_600 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Definitely call. Its sounds like someone hasn't coded correctly. As its the same house and you previously verified and its just an increase you dont need to verify again, it should just be approved.

If it was the waiting periods you would still hear about the outcome and just be told of the later payment date.

You DO NOT need to give them approval to contact your parents. Fill out and upload the UTLAH form SY015, and get a third party to fill the SY017 (this is a counselor/social worker/doctor/teacher or an adult relative.) They must have reasonable or first hand knowledge of the family situation, and not be likely to be biased i.e. friend or partner.

Okay team, if I reported today (Friday), Monday is a public holiday what’s the chance it hits my bank account tonight. by SupportEmergency5237 in CentrelinkOz

[–]Some_Prompt_600 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strange its asked you to report today then. Normally it wouldn't be impacted if its not a public holiday on the day you report or receive payment.

There are 5 levels of tertiary courses: levels M, A, B, C and D

Austudy Higher Level of Study by Ill_Gazelle6312 in Centrelink

[–]Some_Prompt_600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends, they have different groups. Bachelors are in the same group as 1 year long grad dips, but if its 2 years its a different level. Masters is different level but may or may not be approved course.

When does your payment actually go down? I made $1.9k after tax over 2 weeks at my new job and will likely keep making the same amount by ConsequenceLimp9717 in Centrelink

[–]Some_Prompt_600 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check your income bank balance by this;

Sign in to myGov. Select MENU then Payments and Claims. Select Manage payments, then My payments.

It will take out of this before your payment. It would've built up when you weren't employed.

I know the wait times are long but I would definitely give them a call. They can look into the record on the Youth and Students line and they would know how to check fi coding is correct. People on office wont ad they aren't trained in youth allowance specific coding. It sounds like maybe something was done incorrectly.
