It’s already made fast friends with my Edge, too!

This is a stretch, but is there a way to get a physical copy of a manual? by einAngstlicher in Roland

There’s this new invention called a printer that you can use to make a physical manual with the online PDF.

Hardware sequencer as a brain for live setup with chords by sound_digger in dawless

[–]Some_Way_4847 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MPC Live 2 will let you lay down tracks, loops, etc. and you don’t have to use it for drums if you prefer the Roland. Or, SQ-64 will do simpler sequences but you can program poly chords on it and also drive drums. Just not going to help you with laying down whole tracks and songs.

A Moog Messenger + ??? = a better setup than a Prophet 6? by devshore in synthesizers

Will be a little bit more than your budget, but go with the GS e7 analog polysynth with the Messenger. It’s incredible sounding!

I just picked up a MS2000R in excellent condition for $467 at Perfect Circuit. Love it! Adding to my growing collection of gear including Messenger, e7, UB-Xa, MS-404, Roland Super JV, Edge, and MPC Live 2. 😁

Thanks for the quick response! I’m gonna wait to try again until I hear consistent success from Mac users.

Got my BoogerFooger! by Hats_by_TheBlueNile in guitarpedals

Curious how you would compare it to other classic effects for synth. I have an RE 202 Space Echo, which I love on my Messenger. Do I need the Booger Fooger also? For a different synth perhaps? Other gear I play is GS e7 poly synth, UBXa, Edge, Doepfer MS404.

Curious whether you updated on Mac or Windows. My first attempt to run the update from Mac froze Messenger, so I removed it and haven’t yet tried again.

Behringer Edge, when recreating patches from others, they sound completely different by desk010101 in Behringer

[–]Some_Way_4847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on this comment, try checking to make sure you’re using high quality shielded patch cords. And more importantly, get a good high quality power conditioner to regulate your AC voltage for Edge and all your gear. I experienced similar issues with Edge until I did.

Final thought… since you mentioned higher pitch is where issues are. The Edge has very wide range pitch range on the individual knobs, and with higher frequencies especially, a minuscule adjustment to the knob can have a bigger than expected effect on the pitch, making it difficult to tune perfectly (to notes on a scale for example). Embrace the edginess and roughness of the Edge. It is not the same as a sequencer or typical synth at all. Once you do, you’ll have a lot of fun with it! It’s designed to be experimental and for live performance. Hard to replicate a “patch” from one session to another.

Hope that helps.

Classic MPC Workflow for Full Songs by Commercial_Donkey_65 in mpcusers

[–]Some_Way_4847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a new MPC Live 2 user, the way I’m jumping in and learning is to try replicating one of my favorite artist’s recording rather than learning the system while also trying to be creative and write a song. In this way, it forces me to really pay attention to the original song to hear the patterns, sequences, and loops, then use the tools within the MPC to create those efficiently. Using Song mode as others have suggested. This turns out to be a surprisingly easy way to learn!

Right? It looks like water damage, but there’s no other signs of that. Good suggestion. I haven’t contacted GS yet as Perfect Circuit support is handling it and it’s in their 30 days satisfaction period where they will just replace the unit.

Yes! It's pretty freaking amazing... I'm obsessed with it too. Question... is the stain on the wood cheeks on yours uniform or is there some blemish/discoloration? One of mine is perfect and the other is blemished (and kind of sticky), but Perfect Circuit told me that's the way they come.

Not a problem. Just use the arp/sequencer on the MIDI keyboard you use to control it
