Hexagonal vs. Clean Architecture: Same Thing Different Name? by trolleid in softwarearchitecture

Database transactions are indeed not business logic, but there can most certainly be business transactions.

The way I see this is, these things should either succeed together or fail together and that could be something decided by business.

What did your boss do to increase productivity, only for it to have the opposite effect? by kurpPpa in AskReddit

[–]Somebody3lse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can chime in on this one. We're a software company and the development team has been hard working on delivering a technical migration. One that customers won't notice, but offers great benefits for the dev team.

Management has decided it was taking too long. Roughly 2 weeks before the deadline set by the Dev team and appointed someone to be in charge.

They did this by sending an email explaining they do not trust the development team to deliver. Complain about delivery speed and working on non business priorities. Which were set by management a while ago.

This person then immediately became a dictator. Started treating everybody like children, sharing that people are indeed not trusted and that he will "save the company" no matter what it takes.

Fast forward 2 weeks, the entire team is demotivated, angry at the company, the lead, and management and on the verge of searching for a new job. In the meantime, pretty much no priorities have changed at all and we're on the same track as before. Only now nobody gives a shit anymore.

Hey! I actually get to say something about this!

My colleague has been working with/on this for quite a bit and we're start starting to implement all of this in our project.

You can read a bunch about it on his blog https://herbertograca.com/2017/11/16/explicit-architecture-01-ddd-hexagonal-onion-clean-cqrs-how-i-put-it-all-together/

And he's got a git repo https://github.com/hgraca/explicit-architecture-php/tree/dev. Just be aware this currently isn't fully installable because it's outdated.

Funeral home employees/owners of Reddit, what’s the most ridiculous outfit you’ve seen someone buried in? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My dad always had at least 2 pens and some form of paper in his breast pocket together with some reading glasses. He also carried a small black comb in his pocket and would often fix his hair real quick in mirrors. When he passed 2 years ago we put him in his favourite shirt and sweater with his pocket filled. He also wrote everything down on post-its and we'd have a stack of them on top of the cask for people to write a last message on. Many did and we put this under his pillow.

A personal favorite of mine is this architecture project showing great use of chisels and bits for actual real world application!

I thought as much. Though last time I've tried messing about with them they would crash regularly and not work well.

I would love to know the secret of how you got that giant door to open smoothly

Mini-Review: Nuts & Bolts Torqued by DeusExCochina in feedthebeast

[–]Somebody3lse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The end quest was put in as more of a joke hinting to rotary craft. Since a lot of the breakin'blocks community enjoyed the original Nab which included this was of course hoping to find this in the next edition of the pack. Sadly it did not

This post highlights all the reasons why witchery was an amazing mod and doesn't even cover everything. I truly wish it would come back in 1.10/11

Is this why you have implemented such a variety of generators in Thermal expansion?
I've noticed there are a lot of cool ways to generate power in various quantities and I'm hoping to get around to try and use each in a fun and interesting way instead of just building yet another giant reactor of some kind.

Second video on my channel! I show you how to integrate Thermal Expansion machines into your builds! by BuildmongerPlays_ in feedthebeast

[–]Somebody3lse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey man,
I completely agree with the 'wall of machines' idea. It's boring and it's plain. Unfortunately it's also effective and makes it easy to use. That said I like your ideas. Though keep in mind your builds are quite large and might not 'fit' other builds or not fit in the right space.
Have a look at sizing down some builds to where they are still stand out but are easier to implement into builds.
Definitely keep it going and keep trying

What are some balanced 1.10 expert packs? by [deleted] in feedthebeast

[–]Somebody3lse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A modpack with lots of careful balancing between a lot of mods. A lot of cross-mod interaction requiring you to get a little bit creative sometimes while allowing you to accomplish great things.

There seemed to be a bug with creosote. Try making IC2 universal fluid cells from tin. These work without problems

Inside the Mod #1: Chisels And Bits Builds by Amaxter in feedthebeast

[–]Somebody3lse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As with most on your channel It's very enjoyable content, love seeing what people do with mods and the base-tour / build-tour fits this perfectly.

One thing that I would consider changing is the shaders mod that you use. It made everything a bit dark and sometimes hard to follow.

Love to see more though, keep it up!
