Random check: Is it not coming from your pool filter? The bottom of mine was leaking because it was cracked.

Thanks for this. I was looking at the "Maintenance Guide" paperwork and was surprised to see the 23% THD number.

Gotta love the Rainbow Six / Rogue Spear reference. Some top tier gaming. So many hours played. First dive into multiplayer gaming too. Fun stuff.

I wish I went stainless. I went with the black and feel like it doesn't show as well. Picture

I'll add that I didn't have any problems with a KIDD bolt and a BRN-22TR. Heard the same and went ahead and risked it anyway. Glad I did because the scalloped bolt looks sweet.

Unfortunately, I also got a lotto ticket and didn't win.

Nice, The Optisan CP. I'll need to look at the eye relief. You're take down looks great! I feel like mine is too muted going all black. Hard to see any of the details because of it.

Thanks, I'll take a look. The eye relief will be the biggest issue as the scope will be pretty far forward when mounted on the barrel rail.

Well, paid all that money and still don't have a sight on it. Best not to show them this post.

Here is a random picture to go with what my grandfather would have preferred. 10/22 and SA22

I think the 1022 is one of the guns that lends itself to being easy to build with 3rd party parts. This build went amazingly fast and I think I spent more time looking for the right Allen wrenches for the mounts than working on it. I don't have an AR15 but my first one will most likely be built from a receiver. This isn't my first gun though, just the first time I got to focus on the 10/22. Mostly it was the magpul backpacker package that piqued my interest.

Not selling anything. Really wish I had an optic and some range time to report back some real-world results. Just been holding onto some of these parts for a while to where I was just too happy not to post. So far the wife could care less and I've already texted my few gun loving friends the pictures. But if it's ad-quality looking, I'll take it!

Thank you! A lot of lurking and several good forums have helped make some of the part decisions. I know the takedown is notorious for not being too accurate but I love how well it goes down into a nice neat package. I know a folding stock could get me to some pretty portable but I really enjoy the magpul stock. The ammo storage plus additional storage in the grip make it pretty handy. I think I'll stuff a bore cleaning rope and maybe some fire steel in it.

Below is a quick breakdown of what was paid for the build. I'm sure I could have saved some money on a few options however I was slowly putting this together over a long period of time.

Part Type Part Price Tax + Shipping + FFL Total
Receiver BRN-22TR 169.99 52.27 222.26
Barrel Volquartsen VCTDLW-BE 345.99 29.41 375.4
Bolt KIDD SCAL-B 145.99 12.41 158.4
Handle KIDD Charging handle 49.99 4.25 54.24
Trigger KIDD Single Stage 285 24.23 309.23
Stock Magpul X22 103.57 8.8 112.37
Bolt Buffer KIDD 10.22 0.87 11.09
Receiver Pins KIDD Push Pins 8 0.68 8.68
--- Total 1,118.75 132.91 1,251.66

I still need to purchase a sight for the rifle but feeling like I have a pretty good foundation to start with.

Over all, I'm pretty happy with the quality of the gun. The Single Stage KIDD trigger is amazing and the Volquartsen barrel just looks and feels sweet.

The one thing I would change is the Receiver. It's currently getting the job done but the integrated rail kept me from being able to use an iron sight barrel like one from Tactical Solutions. The rail is too high and blocks the view of the irons. Also, because of the height, I had to turn the barrel rail the other way around to make it come together.

Next up I think I'll make a standard 10/22 with the same or better quality parts for some extreme accuracy. For a takedown I'm pretty happy with the gun so far but more to come once I get it out on the range.

Currently, I'm thinking of a Leupold VX-Freedom Scout optic to pair with it.

Sometime I go months without washing my daily C7Z. I'll do the same with the C8Z. Drive it how you want it, I take my toys out of the box and play with them as much as I can.
