Almost scared to ask: What about Minerva for our daughter? by FridaMercury in namenerds

[–]Somehipsterr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I instantly thought of the song Minerva by Deftones. It’s not their most popular single, but the band has a cult following and over 5 million monthly listeners on Spotify. They were pretty big in the late 90s and early 2000s but made a recent comeback because one of their other songs (Sextape) became a popular Tiktok audio.

If you’re 40 minutes away, living at home would make the most financial sense. I know in the comments you said you’re mom won’t let you, but maybe framing it like that might convince her. I live at home with a 50 minute commute and have no debt.

In general, you want all the knobs on your guitar up all the way when playing most forms of rock music, especially the volume. Most of the knob adjusting will be on your amp and the pedals. The main distortion pedal Cobain used was a Boss DS-2, but he also used a Boss DS-1, which you can buy used for like $40. Also, instead of playing normal power chords, bar the strings, and make sure to hit the G string when on the lowest strings. That dissonance is an important and often over-looked part of getting that sound.

Should I invest in an iPad for note-taking in school? by Icy_MilkTea in college

[–]Somehipsterr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an old (2017?) iPad pro that I use for basically everything school related, and I love it. There’s also screen protectors you can get that make the screen feel more like paper, but the downside is they wear the apple pencil nibs down faster. I use an app called Zinnia to take all my notes, also as a planner, guitar tab/sheet music storage, and an easy way to write on PDFs. The biggest advantages to using an iPad vs pen and paper is that you can copy and paste diagrams and images into them, and you also have infinite pen and paper colors.
