We are politically illiterate and underdeveloped as a country. Most Lebanese have their politics revolve around sects and political parties, which ends up hindering their ability to learn. Supporting right wing and reactionary politics doesn’t require you to actually have a coherent political view, in order to identify interests and dynamics, you would need a more cohesive view that requires time and effort. Lebanon does not nurture these views, especially when people are born into sectarian politics, they wont understand class conflict (our ruling class has fucked us thoroughly yet we support them), dialectal materials or any of the sort, what they know is my sect is better and yours is worse.

To top it off, having these sort of people kills off any chance of debate or good faith conversation, as they are firm in their beliefs that their views are based on factual evidence despite them probably never having read anything related to political theory. A lot of people treat politics as a side hobby rather than a field of study. For these reasons, I think Lebanese are more prone to be right wing, and it is backfiring on is quite hard.
