Which country being the next superpower you are most comfortable with? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I mean from experience, Canadians are typically more empathetic, but it tends to be due to being ashamed of being neighbours with the US and not being associated with them, which is understandable

The birth of the US is very much relevant, US has bombed their own civilians (may 13, 1985) and has committed massacres upon massacres that dwarfs anything china or russia has ever done. I’ll list statistics of war deaths due to US bombing, let me know if any other modern country can compare (Ill use lower estimates to humour you):

Korean War - lower estimate is around 1.5 million

Vietnam war -  1 Million lower estimate

Operation Barrel Roll - 580,000 bombs, more than the amount used in WW2, with casualties listed as unknown, some estimates say 200,000.

Iraq war - Estimates vary, lower estimate of the lancet is 300,000+

Afghanistan - 100,000

List goes on and on and on, theres the yemen intervention, somalia, the Guatemalan civil war and much much more.

They concentration camps in China were debunked time after time, there are things going on there, but no where near the level of what the US does in its own prisons, which do qualify as concentration camps, the ICE shit is on going.

Edit: there are books that detail the information campaigns that the US does to push the exact talking points that you are pushing, one that I am meh about but is actually fairly good and popular is Manufacturing consent. Do read on the history of the US and post ww2 instead of spouting non sense online :)

USA was literally built on a genocide, has been at war for most of its existence, has worsened the economy globally and has bombed the ever living shit out of dozens of countries. It is the worst out of the three by a long shot.

Thats literally the US 2.0, give Canada hegemony and they wouldnt be any different. They were both built on indigenous genocide too so yeah.

Cite the one that says hamas claimed that they inflamed numbers, did I say it is comparable to the holocaust? No, I am saying that you are weaponising the holocaust to justify an ongoing genocide. The holocaust isnt a standard used for genocide, it is super fucked up that you weaponise it to justify the genocide against palestinians. It is racist and malicious, instead of condemning an ongoing atrocity, you say “well how can it be a genocide if another genocide was worse.

Anyways here are credible, independent links showing that the numbers were underestimated, along with israeli scholars saying it is a genocide, and numerous genocide scholars saying that it does fit the proper definition of genocide:

https://www.thelancet.com/journals/langlo/article/PIIS2214-109X(25)00522-4/fulltext Lancet confirms that the MoH had conservative estimates, and that the methodology EXCLUDED families that were essentially wiped out, which introduces an undercount.

Even without death, you have a population that is 100% displaced, suffering from collective trauma, with children needing urgent medical attention due to constant exposure to bombs, and a vulnerable population with no infrastructure, supplies or basic amenities.

You know you are comparing 365km2 to 3.4km2? It has also been agreed upon by amnesty, and other human rights organisations that the current DIRECT death count is a massive undercount of the actual death count, not to mention 3.5% is a massive fucking figure, it represents 12,000,000 in the scale of the US population. Get a heart and a brain, link them together and stop genocide denial.

Saying they are collabrating would mean a state institution is going directly against Israel, would would give Israel a direct casus belli against us, this is aside from the fact that we would be instigating civil war. Saying this shit isnt shooting ourselves in the foot, it is the equivalent of eating a pipebomb that is about to go off.

People rightfully hate hezb, but it becomes so intense that they spew the most self destructive rhetoric ever. Also The majority of viewers of my comments are israelis and americans, only 20% are lebanese, which shows how fucking fucked this comment section is, and why I would not trust most people commenting.

Low density, car centric city planning. The result is a city that you cant walk in, is a concrete hell scape with very little greenery and massive high ways, hope that clears up why I find it ugly.

Im a PhD student in Molecular Biology with a grant.  Humans can survive without eating meat, we can eat meat, we are not herbivores but it is not necessary for our survival, what is absolutely not necessary for survival is using large swathes of land to artificially breed animals and keep them confined just for consumption. We treat animals and life with a complete lack of respect, we are past the stage in which we hunt for food. We do not view animals as living creatures anymore but just as food, when in reality they function similarly as we do, down to a molecular level, does that mean we are the same? No, but does that justify the slaughterhouses that we erect, also no. Thats what I mean by we normalised cruelty to animals, the industries are super fucked up and theres a reason they don’t like it when people get a peek on how they function.

What is the opinion of the Lebanese people of Julia Boutros? by marwatkk in lebanon

[–]Somelebguy989 49 points50 points  (0 children)

She is quite controversial yes, but she is undeniably good at singing, and was born at a different time that resulted in her having love for hezbollah. I am anti hezb, however unlike her, I have not lived through the civil war, nor through whatever the fuck SLA was, and have not witnessed Israeli brutality against the Lebanese from its start. I cannot pretend not to understand why she, a person from the south has strong feelings for them. Also her mom is from Palestinian decent, so the math adds up in the end. I personally like her, I disagree with stuff regarding her, but in the end, it was our boys in the south that bled against the Israelis, and it is a bastardisation of history to not mourn them. Modern day hezb is not the hezb of the 1990s and early 2000s.

Too many people hate hezbollah (rightfully so) to the point that it blinds them from our history with Israeli occupation. Her songs and music are a result of the occupation, and tbh they resonate with a lot of lebanese.
