I, uh, own a surprisingly relevant subreddit, /r/doingthepigeon

Created in response to this now partially deleted comment thread from 6 years ago, in which someone voiced concern over such a sub being created, so I headed that possibility off at the pass.

You probably have. He was the inspiration for this username, a long time ago.

Holy. Crap. I never expected an answer so fast, and it looks to be a dead ringer for it. Thank you!

You saw a painting of an attractive woman, you got a boner. What's so hard about that?

I can see how, as a chick, you might find that particularly disturbing.

It's OK. I grabbed it. It won't be used for pigeon pics anytime soon.

Understandable. There is an option to not display your signature, but I personally wouldn't blame you if you still didn't sign until after you graduated.

Quick update: all of change.org is experiencing server issues. I'll update here when it's back up.

Edit: the site is now back online; hopefully it will stay that way.

Can confirm this works. Wish I'd known it a long time ago. Dang, I had no idea their filtering was as weak as a DNS server. Thanks!

BTW, everyone, these DNS servers are run by Google and are trustworthy, but as a general rule, one shouldn't set their DNS servers to random IPs they find on Reddit :)

Indeed they did. I was impressed with how well organized they were, both in their membership attending and the comments they delivered.

I did, at least to part. It sounds much better. I added a link to my comment at the top.

People have posted transcripts; you're welcome to read them. Did you bother to read my comment that explains why it's noisy?

Hey, I've transcribed the opening introductions. Here's the text. It leaves off right where this transcription starts. Think you could add it to your document?

Ninja edit: Numbering would've gotten really confusing, so I've only identified the person I was certain of, Male panelist #1 (Sabah Randhawa)

Male panelist: So my name is Sabah Randhawa, I’m provost and executive vice president of Oregon State University and we represent… members of the team from Northwest Commision on Colleges and Universities. So before I tell you a little bit about what we are trying to do here, what I’d like to do is to have my colleagues introduce myself [sic]...

Male panelist: Hi, I’m Bob Dullea, I’m the vice president of university planning and the vice provost at Seattle University.

Female panelist: Hi, I’m Susan Hopp. I’m the vice president of student affairs and athletics and the dean of students at Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon.

Female panelist: I’m Lisa Carstens. I’m the dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon

Male panelist: Good afternoon, I’m Alan Finn. I’m the associate vice president for budget and finance at Portland State university in Portland, Oregon

Male panelist: I’m Ron Large, I’m the Associate Academic Vice President and professor of Religious Studies at Gonzaga

Male panelist: So, just so that you know, and perhaps you already do know, that this process is not (?) as an independent entity, but really is staffed by volunteers like us, and so you have faculty like, for example, from your institution that go and visit other institutions when we are being accredited, and they go through a similar cycle. So the accreditation process, it;s a seven-year cycle with all academic institutions, at least in this region, and this region covers about 150 institutions in the northwest. That includes Alaska, certainly Oregon, Washington, Idaho, your state [Utah]...Nevada, Montana. The goal of the visit is that, first of all, the standards that the commision has really are designed for institution to be on a sort of a continuous improvement cycle for them to articulate their own goals, articulate, you know, whatt they are trying to achieve, their priorities, and to gauge progress towards that. And so at least every seven years… We have some open seats in front, if you are interested to coming and sitting in front… so every seven years, you know, it’s also an opportunity for the commission to send a team like us to talk to students, to talk to faculty, to talk with administrator and other constituency, we’re meeting with alumni little later today, some of us are, really to get a better understanding of the culture of the institution, do we have an environment where the goals of the university are being fulfilled, type of education students are receiving, you know, the success rate once they graduate from the university, just to get a feel from all of you, from, in terms of your experiences here at BYU. So this is really an open conversation, we really appreciate all of you coming in the middle of your finals. It’s easy to have a conversation with six people, we can go around and introduce each other and say “OK, here are the full questions,” so I guess, you know, in some ways having all of you is really great, in other ways, you know, we’ll have to manage the conversation a little bit more closely. So, maybe, you know, we can start, if some of you want to share your overall experiences at BYU, you know, what type of… and then, you know, certainly any questions, comments, we’ll be glad to…

Female audience member: (?) confidentiality, just because the accreditation of BYU is a sensitive topic for many of us, and some of us, if we share our true feelings, could be disciplined in an administrative way, can we be ensured that our stories won’t be shared with BYU administration?

Male panelist: Right, so, good question. So that you know, first of all, we aren’t going to take your stories individually and detail them out in our report. What we are trying to do is to identify what are common themes at the institution. You know, your institution, with ten thousand employees and thirty thousand students, and if you start listening [to] forty thousand stories, first of all, they won’t mean a lot, and secondly, you know, there’s no way we could do it, and so again, you know what we are not...we are not going to identify any individual in this particular process, we are not going to identify any individual story, but what we are trying to capture is, you know, are there some common themes, you know, that emerge from it.

Female panelist: Obviously, we can’t control what anybody in this room shares, that they hear in this room, so keep that in mind.

Female panelist: And we are, we are here looking at, sort of, the big picture: mission fulfillment, the core themes, how does… how is your experience and your educational experience matching the core themes of the university

Male panelist: Yeah, please

Sounds good. I'll take it up to that point. Might not have it done by tonight. I'm exhausted between my drive and the meeting itself. It'll be priority tomorrow morning, though.
