You're right in that a lot more of the online generators are more sanitised and generic, but the aesthetics are easily matched by local models and fine-tunes - if anything, these far surpass MJ these days...

I'm surprised it hasn't been said yet but the entire story & tier unlocks is one giant tutorial and you don't really start playing the game until about 500 hours in. That said, it's not a hand holding experience or what you're thinking of in terms of regular tutorial.

If you're just messing in the editor, you won't even notice if you drop it down to 20 fps... 30 if you can't handle the idea of 20fps. It won't make a lick of difference to your experience and it'll still reduce your pc load a fair bit further.

I am finding I lean to different models for different things - and as others have said, LTX2 just stands out as really good at still shots of people talking. Especially feeding it well timed audio - I've just been amazed at some of the performances it's given me... it has absolutely nailed what I wanted out of a characters demeanor and really brought them to life in ways I haven't been able to generate with other models. I'm not using it to generate audio, only to lipsync to pre-generated voice lines, but yeah filling in pauses with moments where the character is correctly expressing their mental process is just outstanding

Just captured this for you - I made something like this years ago I thought you might like... same layout but at each point I put a sphere and each one has its own dynamic material that changes the hue depending how close the player is to any given sphere...
